Vehicle Detail
I don't have a lot of experience with these but I know that huge expertise exists out there. I have had several Nortons and do currently own a Norton Commando and have several BSA singles and owned a couple of BSA 650 twins. I bought this bike about four years ago from a local independent dealer friend that had it on consignment from a distressed customer. My interest was generated by the fact that it seemed to be an entirely unmolested 1971 motorcycle that was quite handsome in its originality. The bike had less than 3500 miles on it and not a single nut or bolt showed a wrench mark. The paint on the frame and tin shows no clue of being other than factory, and very nice. While clearly not ridden much, it had apparently been stored well. For a couple a couple of years I did absolutely nothing but roll it out and ride it from time to time. My son in law and daughter had custody for a couple of years as well. Those of you familiar with these I suspect find them to be the same pleasant unintimidating entertainment that I do. The big wide bars and the sit up position make me feel like Steve McQueen. I have still never had the bike apart. A few months ago I did take all of the odds and ends off of the front, had all the bits chromed including the head lite bucket and the tail lite pieces, painted the triple trees black and sent the gauges off to a guy I have used often to have British gauges rebuilt. He reported that they really didn't need it but I wanted them fresher looking. They are. I also had a couple of stitches redone in the original seat at that time. Other than that, to my knowledge, it is entirely as the factory produced it. I suspect that it will be of some interest to you Triumph guys in its completeness and unrestored originality. It had just had new period tires installed when I got it. They remain fine. My bikes live indoors, covered and on a tender. All lights and switches work as new. You will find it to be a very nice example. I still get it out a couple of times a month and enjoy it. It deserves more. I find these bikes to have one quirk. The carburetor has no choke. Winter starting is a five minute drill unless it is ridden daily. It starts on one or two kicks but demands to be tickled and kicked again until it has a little heat in it. Not an issue in warm weather. After that it could not be more pleasant in every way. I suspect you Triumph guys either deal with this or know a shortcut around it. I would be interested in hearing. Shipping is on the buyer. I can facilitate on this end. I have had very good luck with Allied. Scammers brace for revenge. I have time. I resent your intrusion into the ebay market. If you have less than great or limited feedback please check with me before bidding. $500 NONrefundable paypal deposit immediately on close of auction (24 hrs). Best Luck. Bid like you mean it! Mike
