Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale is a 1977 Lancia Scorpion, also known outside of USA as Montecarlo. Lancia sold 1800 cars in USA during 1976-1977, all with mid-engined setup and manual transmissions. The 1976 cars all had solid rear buttresses, while the 1977 received the rare and coveted glass buttresses, that make the car much more streamlined and pretty. There were only about 400 cars brought into the USA in 1977, and this particular example is #1778, making it one of the very last cars imported, and finished in the most desirable "Ferrari Red". Very rare specimen indeed! What makes this one even more special is it’s very low mileage. Only 38k miles on the clock, and it is original. The car was parked because of a failed attempt at a brake master cylinder replacement over 20 years ago. Original Rossa Corsa paintwork is getting thin in places, but what you see here is what you get. No body damage, and practically no rust! Interior is likewise in beautiful shape, with hardly any wear present. The car appears very complete. All the glass and trim is there and in good shape. Soft top is in poor shape, but is included for a pattern, as well as a new replacement canvas material. Engine turns freely with the starter, and electric fuel pump works. No attempt has been made to start the car. Because it has sat idle for so long, all the normal maintenance should be done first. The car rolls just fine. All the electrical seems to be working, even the headlight pop up as intended. What this car needs is a very straightforward and simple restoration. Having owned 2 of these cars in the past, and have seen this car personally, I can tell that this one is an excellent candidate! It will need a battery, possibly ignition switch (stuck), and brake work at a minimum. Nice period correct upgrades include full Ansa exhaust system, including 4-into-one header and quad tip muffler., and a sporty Lancia steering wheel. Car appears stock otherwise. I’m listing this car for a good friend of mine, who is not very handy with computers. If you have any questions, please contact him directly at 503-808-0912. His name is Grover. The car is located in Portland, OR. Shipping the car is buyer’s responsibility, but the seller will assist. International shipping can be arranged as well. The car is sold with free and clear OR state title, and a Bill of Sale. Inspections prior to auction end are encouraged, please call the number above. The car is listed to sell, not to look, so please bid responsibly. Seller reserves the right to end the auction early. Thank you! Supposedly the last number on the odometer is a decimal, therefore the milege should read 103K. Even though it's pretty obvious in the pictures, I'd like to point out that there's some non-structural rust on the car, namely multiple perforations on the inner sheetmetal around the grille vents of the trunk lid (typical), some light corrosion around windshield edge and forward edge of the trunk lid (but no perforations), minor paint bubbling in rear lower door skins, and some surface rust on the suspension components. The floors are solid, the rockers are solid. One of the last pictures shows the often missing belly pan, that also has some surface rust.On Mar-06-13 at 09:06:14 PST, seller added the following information: Delivery within 200 miles of Portland is possible @ $1.50/mile
