I originally bought this 2003 Freelander for my oldest son...handed down to my youngest son, he has driven it for the last 5 years. Great car - terrible gas mileage! The Freelander was running great up until about a week ago....timing chains need to be replaced. I got an estimate from the dealership, read about a hundred blogs on the "Fix". looks like about 3500 bucks. I had the compression checked and they said it was still strong....indicating no internal damage (Stopped driving as soon as the engine started to "sound strange" and had it towed). We put a Refurbished 34K mile engine (Installed by RPM Automotive in Jacksonville, Fl) in about 3 years ago. Since installation, we have added about 20K miles New tires (less than 1000 miles) on Alloy Rims (All 5) Front Bull Guard No Rust Straight Body New Cold Air Intake (RS) (Still have the original) New Magnaflow muffler and Custom Resonator (Still have the original) Clear Title I looking to sell the freelander and get my son a car with better gas mileage.
