Vehicle Detail
This well taken care of time capsule is a very nice, very clean, no rust, all original condition, numbers matching with 41,000 original miles. It even has a factory map light which still works. This el Camino is as it was 43 years ago when it was delivered from Harison-Gulley Chevrolet, Inc. off Walton Way in Augusta Georgia. It’s ride is solid, smooth and quiet. The numbers matching engine runs strong, the original turbo 400 transmission shifts smoothly. All the original glass is here. The rear bumper still has the sticker from the dealer on it. The car comes with the original window sticker, the 1969 Chevrolet per-Delivery service and adjustment Check Sheet completed September 16, 1969, the protect-o-plate, the sales invoice where Mr. Hart traded in his 1968 el Camino and paid the balance in cash are here. The spare key envelope is here, the owner’s manual bag is here, even the original air shock pressure recommendation card is here. The only modification done to this car was done in 1985 when the last owner put a cassette stereo in the car. The dash is unmolested, the radio can be easily replaced and door panels are available. This el Camino has been well maintained and is a well preserved example of a 60's muscle car. Only two other people have owned this Super Sport since it was new. I have the Georgia Motor Vehicles Division documentation which verifies this. Both of the prior owners lived in Augusta Georgia, which is right down the street from Columbia, SC. Considering the low mileage I had the el Camino delivered on a trailer to me in Columbia. The last owner told me that he found it many years ago after Mr. Hart died. Mr. Hart told his wife to hold on to the el Camino, which she did. It sat for many years. Mr. Hart told her not to sell it because it would be worth a lot one day. When the last owner purchased the el Camino, he painted the exterior. So over time the original paint on one of the panels was chipped away by her Cadillac’s door. However the door jams and the bed were left alone. You can tell the bed still has the original paint. There are no rust problems. This el Camino has lived it's life in heated garages. The car still has the original under coat (I have the receipt for the purchase of the undercoat in 1970.) We replaced the front bumper because the chrome became cloudy and didn't look as nice as the rest of the el Camino. The weather stripping around the doors was replaced because after 43 years they dried out. The rug is original and in original condition, the seats are original, the floor mats are the ones that came with the el Camino, the air cleaner still has the original stickers on it. Even the original oval radio antenna is here and there are no oval replacement antennas. You can see the spare tire, red line, has never been used. We recently replaced the BF Goodrich TAs because the set that were on it, although they looked like new, were so old that they just gave out. BF Goodrich doesn't make that size isn't made any longer. I did not want to paint the bed or any other part of this original el Camino so you can see it's rust free, straight and just in wonderful condition. The air blows cold, still has original AC system. The brakes are strong, the transmission shifts perfectly, the engine runs smoothly and is powerful. This is a fantastic find. I fully intended to keep this and drive it, but I can’t. I am very comfortable representing to you that this is an all original find that is fully functional so you can choose show it as it is or use it as a daily driver. I will be glad for you to have anyone look it over from top to bottom. This is an original beauty, would be a gem in any collection or as the workhorse for anyone. Please contact me with any questions. I reserve the right to end this auction if the vehicle sells by other means prior to the reserve being met. Please do not ask me what the reserve is as it would not be fair to all the others who are bidding. Thank you!
