Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on my Show Quality 1977 Classic Standard Beetle. I bought this car as a project and have had a great time restoring it to its original beauty. This was the last year the Standard Beetle was imported to the United States. It was equipped with a factory sun roof, fuel injection and air conditioning. The Car now is naturally aspirated with a single barrel carb and the AC has been removed to help with engine performance. I purchased this car in 2009, completely disassembled the automobile, blasted the entire body and and floor pan and had it professionally reprimed and painted using a Toyota Charcoal Gray Metallic paint. All rubber seals and gaskets ( including all window seals, door seals, window gaskets and scrapers, hood seal, deck lid seals and gaskets), All Chrome ( including door handles, hood latch, body trim, and deck lid latch), All interior parts have been replaced with new OEM quality parts from the following companies: West Coast Metric, CIP1, Mid America, and J-Bugs, Inc. The Engine is in new condition, having been completely restored using OEM (non-chinese) new parts. The engine has approximately 5,500 miles on it, as it is not a daily driver. The original speedometer/odometer was reinstalled in the automobile after blasting and painting and for that reason, the odometer does not reflect the correct mileage. The only parts salvaged from the old engine were the Engine Case, German Crank, and German Cam. It is a stock 1600 dual port with single barrel Solex 34 pict carb, electronic ignition, petronix .009 Distributor, High performance plug wires, High Output coil, Bosch Alternator, All new Sheet metal and fan Schroud, and Scat hi ratio rockers. The engine is in like new condition, runs great, and has a lot of low end torque. The engine rebuild was done by Jerry Edwards of Trion, Georgia who has over 40 years of experience in working on and building VW engines. His contact information can be provided to any prospective bidder if they wish to verify any of the information contained in this description. I ordered all new OEM sun roof cables and parts and same have been completely replaced. I found a rare Chrome sun roof crank handle and hardware that originally came in an early model Volvo, which is much better than the factory crank from VW. The sun roof opens, closes and seals perfectly. All seat cushions, covers, head liner materials, dash pad are new from TMI ordered through J-Bugs, Inc. The floor pan was solid as a rock and therefore was not replaced. The entire underside of the car and fenders have been coated with automotive undercoating for a long lasting protective finish. The Engine has been equipped with a header style exhaust and sounds great. I will be glad to send video or additional pictures to any interested purchasers. The heater boxes have been replaced with OEM boxes. Both heater box channels on the car frame are in like new solid condition and are original. During restoration I found two of the fenders to have slight damage and those were replaced with OEM restoration quality fenders. I had a minor blemish repaired on the right rear quarter panal and reinforced the steel under the battery compartment. No other body work was done on this car, as the body was in excellent condition. The car was primed immediately after blasting with automotive quality primer and was painted while disassembled for a show quality paint job. I have also equipped the car with a sony stereo system with amp and 12 inch sub. This Auction is for pick up of vehicle only. I am relisting my VW after the previous listing because a prospective bidder mistakenly "Bought it Now" when they were intending on simply placing a bid, thus causing the auction to end early. I have the original title to the vehicle, as same is not required to obtain a tag in Georgia due to the year model. I also have the original 1977 Owner's manual. Good luck bidding!
