If you are looking for an unusual street rod, than take a look at this one. A 1947 DeSoto Deluxe Coupe Project car. Yes I said project, it is about 70% completed, all the more difficult work has been done. The work done is as follows: 1) The engine is a 1967 Mopar 225 slant six with automatic trans. All the motor and trans mounts are custom made, ribber insulated not solid. 2) The rear end is from a 1982 Datsun 280 ZX. It is a disc brake, independent unit with coil over shocks, I have new discs, which are installed on the car, however the calipers and pads have not, they are brand new in the box. See pictures. 3) The wiring harness is from Painless Performance Products. It is a 18 circuit, non GM keyed, universal street harness. The fuse block has been mounted but the wires need to be strung and connected. This is the easiest harness to run, all the wires are marked as to where they go, as well as installation instructions. 4) The front suspension is all original except the brakes. A Master Power Brakes power disc brake kit was installed on the original spindles. The kit has all GM components, discs, calipers, master cylinder and booster. 5) All the major sheet metal work has been done. The trunk area has new floors with a utility box with cover, the coil overs and supports have been covered. The interior floors were replaced as well as the firewall. The trunk has been fiberglass but not the interior, this needs to be done. Now for the work needed to be done: 1) The plumbing, the front brakes have been plumbed and are operational, however the rears need flexible rubber hoses and a few feet of hard line. the fuel line is partially run and needs a couple of feet of hard line also. 2) The sheet metal and frame work needed. The rocker boxes are gone, rotted out and need replacing. The center cabin body mounts need to be replaced after the rocker boxes are installed. There is rust around the headlights, the lower rear corners of the front clip and in the trunk area next to the opening. I can help with the metal if necessary and local. See pictures. 3) A drive shaft. I have both the front yoke (Mopar) and the rear yoke (Datsun). This will be an unusual street rod when finished. First of all is that a new Desoto has not been produced since 1961 or 52 years ago, most people have never heard of a Desoto. This car will attract more attention than any cookie cutter, SBC powered rod at the local car shows, cruise nights or rod runs. Look at the pictures, ask questions and then decide if this is for you. On Feb-04-13 at 16:40:47 PST, seller added the following information: NOTE: I have the headlight bezels, the missing turn signal bezel and all the chrome strips except for the passenger side rear fender strip, which the previous owner ripped off. The lower chrome strips have holes in them from the same boob, who put screws in them to hold them on. I also have the winged lady hood ornament which is very good shape. The front tires need replacing the ones on the car are dirt ball tires on just to make it a roller. The wheel bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2" Mopar/Ford. The rear rims are modified Mopar rims 15 x 7 but the fronts are Ford 15 x 5. If you want to have the poverty caps on the front you will need to find 15 x 5 Mopar rims, by the way I have 4 of the poverty caps like the one on the tire picture. The body is in pretty good shape, not much bondo, quite solid but it does need work. I even have a shop manual for this. Dare to be Different.
