Vehicle Detail

Hello and welcome to my auction. Today I am auctioning off to the highest bidder, my 1980 Ferrari 308 GTSi in great condition. I purchased this car from a friend back in 2005 with approx 68k miles. My friend purchased it from a gentleman that brought it to California from Hawaii in 1998. That's right, this 308 is from Hawaii (which made it even more special to me having always been a fan of Magnum P.I.). This car is one of three Ferrari's that I have in a small collection. The following is a list of restorations and upgrades that were all performed in 2007-2008 totaling approx $28,700.00. 1. Complete engine rebuild which consisted of: New main and rod bearings OE standard size. Inspected and micro polished crankshaft. Crank was not cut! Inspected and honed cylinders. New piston rings and wrist pin bushings. Entire factory engine gasket set. New Timing belts and tensioner rollers. New Ball bearings for the Timing belt drive sprockets. Powder coated wrinkle finished timing covers. Powder coated wrinkle finished intake. Powder coated wrinkle finished valve covers. Rebuilt cylinder heads. New intake and exhaust valve guides (16). New exhaust valves (8). The headers and entire exhaust was ceramic coated silver. Every nut and bolt was re-plated in yellow chromate as it came from the factory New ignition rotors Plugs Accel wires (which actually made a huge difference). New Intake boot. K&N Air filter. New Oil Pressure sending unit. New Oil cooler lines. Powder coated air filter box and coolant reservoir. New CV axle boots packed with Mobil one synthetic grease. All of the machine work was done by a old timer machine shop that specializes in european exotics. I have been using them for approx ten years. He is also the machine shop for the local Ferrari dealer. 2. Transmission shifts like butter even when cold (I am running Swepco 201 gear lube which is what I run in 600 hp Porsche 993 Twin turbo track cars). All transmission gaskets and seals where replaced. All nuts, bolts and drive flanges were re plated in yellow chromate. 3. Suspension; The entire suspension system was completely rebuilt to stock specs with the exception of the poly bushings.(I did not want to deviate away from the stock ride). Rebuilt Koni shocks New polyurethane suspension arm bushings from Energy suspension. (car tracks very well and is smooth over bumps and on the highway, big improvement over the stock setup). All 8 control arms were powder coated black. All nuts and bolts, hardware and brackets were re plated in yellow chromate. Four wheel laser alignment performed. 4. Brakes; Rebuilt front and rear brake calipers. New front and rear semi metallic pads. New front and rear stainless braided brake hoses. All harware, nuts and bolts were re plated in yellow chromate (including rotors). 5. Body; Car was repainted in 2007, I have pictures of what the car looked like after all of the trim and lights were removed on the day it left for the body shop, it took these pictures to prove that it was not painted due to an accident or mishap of any sort. The car is painted in the correct Rosa Corsa for that particular year. I was able to find the correct code through my friend at the local Ferrari Dealer. The windshield was removed and reset using The latest 3M Window urethane sealant (No leaks). 6. Wheels and tires are the 17inch 288 GTO three piece wheels from Compomotive that I have specially made for the car in 2006. Tires are Dunlop sport 2000 with approx 90% tread remaining. There is no spare tire but you can find then on Ebay for approx $250.00 7. Air conditioning was converted to R134a and it blows cold. 8. Cooling system; The original radiator was recored in 2007. New cooling fan motors x 2. New thermostat. Coolant is the BMW original phosphate free coolant which is far superior to Prestone. Some new coolant hoses were installed. New coolant fan switch on radiator. 9. Interior; The entire dashboard was redone in very nice leather with red stitching (not vinyl). Both door panels were also redone in the same leather with red stitching. New headliner. New Alpine stereo with ipod attachment. The piping on the drivers seat is town in two places (please see pics). The seats were completely redone in 2003 however. Newer floor mats The drivers and passenger side windows go up and down with great speed. Not slow... Needs: Turn signal stalk is broken at the plastic base and the defrost vents on the dash. I HAVE THE STALK. Unobtainium.com can mold a new piece if you send them the stalk for $175.00 I will give you their phone number. The car performs very well, it pulls hard all the way up to red line (not done often). Corners well and is a pleasure to drive on road trips. All of the above listed work and upgrades were done at the same time over the coarse of about 5 winter months between 2007-2008. I am a purest (unless something can be improved) when it comes to restoring cars. With exception to the red valve covers, all of the other items that were either powder coated, painted or plated were done in a manner thought to be consistent with what the Ferrari factory would have done in 1980 as they built this car. I will be sad to see this car go, it truly was a labor of love, I am sure it will treat its new owner well. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thanks and good luck bidding. Andrew 847 849 7660. The car and I are located close to Ohare and Midway airports in Chicago, If you decide to fly in and drive the car back, I will be happy to collect you from these two major airports. Please note that this auction will end on Tuesday February 5th at 8pm Pacific time, 9pm Mountain time, 10pm Central time and 11pm Eastern time. Best of luck.
