Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1954 Mercury Monterey "Woody" Station Wagon. It has always been in California and was built in the Los Angeles Plant. I am the Third Owner of this Beautiful Car. I purchased it from the Second Owner in 1998. He purchased it from a friend of his who was the original owner. I have both their names. The day I drove it home, it turned over 80,000 original miles. It was all original the day I picked it up. The Interior is still all original throughout except for Carpeting which looks like it was added in later. There is also an original factory button up Curtain that can be used when Camping in the car.The original Sea Foam Green Paint was faded as well as the Decals, so I had it repainted the original two tone colors plus installed new Decals and had the "Wood" Trim restored. They are all the original pieces. The Car came with Power Brakes from the Factory. For safety reasons, I up-graded the Power Brake Unit to a modern two line system and also converted to front Disk Brakes for safer stopping power. The only major change I made to the Car was to install a 1995 Mustang 5.0 HO (302) V8 Engine with 600cfn Edlebrock Carborator and an Automatic Overdrive with a Converter Lock-Out. Also added Vintage R134 Air Conditioning/Heating Unit. Also added under the Dash a CD Player. Car operates on a 12 Volt System. All Dash Instruments were converted to 12 Volts but are still original in appearance and work as before. Tires are Steel Belt Wide Whites. Car has been driven on Trips to Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Death Valley (twice), and Lake Havasu in Arizona (twice) to the Run to the Sun Car Show. This Car can drive anywheres! Even has a Trailer Hitch to tow a Tear Drop Trailer. I did have the Front & Rear Bumpers plus Grille Replated, otherwise all other Chrome is original and still shines. Car appeared in Street Rod Builder Magazine, March, 2001, page 105. It also has been shown at Autorama in Sacramento. This car is a Cruiser and can be driven anywhere! When is the last time you saw a Mercury Monterey "Woody" Station Wagon??? In the last 15 years, I have only seen one other on the road!!! (A 1953). If you have any questions, please feel free to E-Mail me through E-Bay. (If Car sold out of California, Owner retains the right to keep California License Plates).
