Vehicle Detail

This is a very, very nice 1974 2002tii. It is totally stock except for two items: a low mileage 5 speed transmission, and a Nardi steering wheel. Everything else is stock. I live in Chicago, and looked for a tii in CA for several years before I found this one. It spent its entire life in CA with one owner - and I bought it in 2011 from a restorer who gave it a fresh coat of Glasurit in the original Baikal Blue (windows and all trim removed for the paint). There is no rust anywhere on this car. None. The dash is perfect. The sunroof is a nice touch. I have replaced everything that needed replacing - and this is now a head turner. The restorer I bought it from gave it a nice coat of paint, and rebuilt the front seats with German vinyl - but I wanted all the mechanicals gone through before I sent it back to Chicago - so:I sent to Integrity Motors - just south of San Francisco - and they went through it for about six months and fixed everything that needed fixing. Feel free to call them. That was a long list - because I wanted a trouble free car - that included:•new brakes (rotors, pads, shoes on the back, drums, etc), with new braided stainless brake lines•new wheel bearings•lots of new suspension parts (where ever there was play - I just bought new)•rebuilding the head•took out the fuel tank and had it hot dipped and sealed•new timing belt and engine seals •all new hoses and gaskets•new blower motor and valve (that is a big job, installing it)•pedal kit (rebuilding them so there is no play in the pedals)•new door panels from Germany (I just hate those speaker holes)•new rear lights from Germany (the entire unit, plus lenses)•new door checks•new tires•and yes, I found original alloy wheels for the tii that were made for one year (1974) - they were restored - these wheels are almost impossible to find any more. Check out the pictures. I am a bit of a perfectionist. I knew the car should have new German loop carpet - and there is a great BMW restoration shop here is Chicago called The Werk Shop - so I had the car shipped from Integrity in CA (in an enclosed van of course) to Mike at The Werk Shop and they also went through it - and we determined there were more changes needed to make it a great driver - so I had them do additional work, that included:•a new steering box (I wanted zero play in the steering - none!)•new German wool loop carpeting (very nice, but expensive) - with sound deadening backing•a new control unit for cold starting•a new alternator•an entirely new exhaust sytem from the manifold back. That's right, all the tubes, hangers, muffler, etc. New from Germany! Looks sweet too -- So now I have built this great driver - that looks fantastic - but in the past two years since I bought it my priorities have changed. I picked up a low mileage BMW R1150GSA (yep, a motorcycle) and have been riding it quite a bit. So I decided that it would make sense to sell the 2002tii. And no, I have never taken delivery of it. Mike is keeping it for me at The Werk Shop. He thinks this is a killer deal (please don't ask me how much I have invested in the car - but it’s a lot more than the price I am asking). So if you want a well sorted Absolutely rust fee 2002tii that is not modified (except for the 5 speed and the Nardi wheel) - and that has been lavished with new parts, paint, carpet, and mechanical attention - well – I do not think you will find a nicer one than this for the price. And if you live in the MidWest - you won't have to spend another $1000 importing it in an enclosed carrier from CA (which is where all the nice older 2002's live, don't you know). Feel free to ask me questions. I want this sweet little car to go to a good home. And no, this should not be your daily winter driver if you live in the snow belt! Keep if for nice weather when there is no salt on the road!Serious inquiries only please - I know how hard these are to find and I have replaced just about everything that needs replacing with new parts. Thanks.Oh - so what would I do if I were to keep it? Probably at some point replace the door seals and maybe the headliner. That's about it - but I have to leave something for the new owner to do - Now for those of you who don't know 2002's - they were made through 1976, but 1974 is the last year BMW made the 2002 with the more powerful fuel injected engine - so some say it is "collectible". Ok, perhaps, but I just wanted a very nice driver. And this is!
