Vehicle Detail
As much as I hate to do it, I need to sell my Triumph. I love this bike and I’m going to hate to see it go. It is without a doubt the fastest bike I have ever owned, and it is a blast to ride. Unfortunately, money is very tight right now and if I want to keep my head above water some sacrifices have to be made. Here’s the history: I bought this bike online while I was in Iraq in 2011. I flew out to Milwaukee when I got home and rode the bike back to Pennsylvania. I got a chance to push the bike a bit out on the highway and I couldn’t believe how fast the bike went. I’ve never been on a faster bike in my life. I was literally hanging on for dear life. I called the dealer I bought the bike from when I got home and he told me that it was a track bike that had been converted back to street legal for sale. The bike had been down on the track, but was mechanically sound and 95% cosmetically fixed. I had some friends who are into sport bikes look at the work that still needs done, and they said it wouldn’t take much to make it 100%. T thought about bringing it back to 100% but I was having too much fun riding it to worry about minor body work. The tail end of the bike is cracked by the break light. I pulled the tape back for the photos, but everything works fine. There is a chip the size of a quarter out of the bum-stop which I also have tape over. And there is a small crack in the side. Sharpie would cover that one, but I just haven’t bothered. There are only two other minor problems that I know of. The starter switch is a pain in the rear end sometimes when the bike gets wet. I’ve had to pull it apart and spray it with contact cleaner more than once. It should be replaced, and it’s not expensive but I haven’t gotten around to it. The other issue is that the gas tank has nipples on it for a petcock, even though it is fuel injected. I have no idea why. It has leaked a little bit of gas over time, but not enough that you notice, or smell it, until you see where it has run down the frame. This should be an easy fix, but again I haven’t gotten to it. Here is the last issue. I never got the title in the mail. I didn’t have an apartment yet when I got home from Iraq, so I used a friend’s address that was still over there. I believe it was returned. I registered the bike, insured it and had it inspected but never received the title. I printed out the paperwork for a replacement title and will take it to a messenger service today. I should have the title in a week or two. Until then I cannot verify whether the title is reconstructed or clear. I honestly didn’t think to look or ask when I bought the bike. It wouldn’t have mattered to me anyway. I bought the bike to ride, and I have. Because I can’t say for sure, let’s assume for the sake of full disclosure that the bike is reconstructed. It couldn’t have been a salvage title, or I wouldn’t be holding the registration in my hand. In any event, I will have the title shortly, and can sign it over in front of a notary, and send it out to you. No need to make two trips. I will give you a bill of sale when you come to get the bike, a receipt from the notary, and any other documentation you need. Then I will send the title as soon as it comes. If this will not work for you then please pass on this auction. You will pick the bike up at my house, so I’m not going to cheat you. All in all, the bike runs great, handles like a dream and is extremely fast. The aftermarket exhaust sounds amazing and the bike turns heads where ever it goes. I’ve owned dozens of bikes in my lifetime, and I’ve never heard “nice bike” as often as I have with this one. If you get the bike now, and know how to do a little body work, you can have a mint ride by spring. Or you can just ride it as is. I would replace the starter/kill switch though. That thing has pissed me off more than once (or just don’t get caught in the rain). I am setting a very low reserve that’s not even based on the value of the bike. It’s based on what I need to get caught up on bills. The current value is well over twice, almost three times what the reserve is set at. If you win this auction you will be getting a steal. Again, I hate to sell it but I have no choice. Sometimes being a responsible adult sucks. My loss is your gain. Good luck, and please ask any questions before bidding. I will not arrange shipping, but I will cooperate with your shipper if you set it up. Local pickup is preferred. A two hundred dollar deposited is due at the end of the auction via paypal, and full payment is due when you pick up the bike. I would like the bike picked up within 10 days of the end of the auction. The title may be there by that time. If not, we will follow the plan outlined above. Again, thank you for looking and good luck. -Dave P.S. There may be a few extra miles on the bike when you come to pick it up. It's going to be nice on Saturday and I'd like to go for one last ride.
