Up for auction is this 1979 jeep CJ7 that i purchased as a parts jeep for another CJ7 that i was supposed to get but then that deal fell through so i no longer have use for this one.Before i go any further this jeep will need to be towed,The frame is very bad in several places and there are no rear brakes due to rusted out brake lines.One mor thing,i put the mileage as 30943 because thats what the odometer reads but im sure its more like 100,000 plus. This old girl does start run and drive and can easily be driven on a trailer.This jeep would be perfect for either a parts vehicle or for using up at a camp somewhere in the woods.One last time, this vehicle will need to be towed,trailered or flat bedded, it is too unsafe to be driven on the road !!! OK now about the jeep.The exhaust system is totally shot and bassically non existent,just some parts of it still dangeling underneath. Well you already know about the frame being bad and the bad rear brake lines.There are front brakes and they work.Engine starts and has plenty of power and sounds very strong,it doesnt smoke one single bit and doesnt appear to be leaking oil either.I have included 2 pictures of the gauges ,one with it ideling and another with it high idling,you will notice that it charges fine and has good oil pressureThe automatic transmission works great and goes through all the gears smoothly.Tires are in good shape.The body for the most part is shot! The floors have been covered with tape,yep i said tape. Hope i never go to that repair shop!! The steel doors are in pretty good shape,the drivers door has some rust at the bottom but not to serious.The passenger door is in good shape.Both doors have that usual stress crack on top near the base of the windows.The rear body section has been covered completly in roughly 1/16 steel.(see pictures) Tailgate has some pretty good surface rust but no rust through and still opens and closes.The rear hatch is in pretty rough shape with repairs and rust holes plus the outside handle is broken and has to be opened from inside.Speaking of handles, both door handles work and lock with the key.Wiper motor works but the linkege to the wipers is unhoked for some reason but all linkege appears to be still there.The 4 wheel drive works great. High and low range works great but the low range shifter mounts to the floor and is rusted out, i had to shift it from underneath, it would work just fine if that area of the floor was repaired.Both driveshafts are in good shape ,all u joints seem tite and there is no wobble in the splines.Both the front and rear ends are good with no excessive clunking or clanking when put into gear.You will notice the gas can on the passenger floor,yep you guessed it thats what the guy i got it from was using as the gas tank,and he smoked cigarettes.Yee Ha !! There is a tank mounted in the back where it is suppose to be but from what he said the fuel line broke and this was his sollution to the problem.I also have an extra tank that i am including complete with sender and skid plate.The tank skid plate on the jeep looks pretty new.Gee, after all this typing im feeling like a smoke break,maybe i should go out in the jeep and try my luck,nah i dont think so.Sorry if i keep jumping around here but im trying to put things in as i recall them.The lights- well one headlight works,and the left front turn signal as well as both left and right rear turn signals and brake lights work.The horn works.The heater fan and the radio do not work but most likely just bad wireing.I also have a set of extra set of steel wheels and tires that will go with the jeep,there nothing special just rollers.Both door glass roll up and down smoothly.One last thing before i forget,The battery is NOT included, i just put that in to move it around.Well guess thats about it and im sure i forgot a bunch of things but feel free to ask lots of questions.Also if you need more pictures just shoot me an email and be specific of what area you want pictures of.All questions will be answered promptly (usually within 30 minutes) yep my phone wakes me up every time there is a question from ebayers,gee how annoying.!
