Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 1972 Triumph GT-6. This car has undergone a full restoration. Being that the original floor pans and trunk floor were solid, it was not a "body off frame" restoration. I could use all sorts of words to describe the car, but with us each having our own opinions and expectations of what's a "show car" or just a nice daily driver, I'll just describe the work done, and let the photos do the rest. I know that I'll remember different things of interest as this sale goes along, so more than likely, I'll post additional information and photos. So you may want to check back regularly. In addition to the photos in this listing, there are many more at photobucket. If there's an angle or view I haven't covered, please feel free to ask! Photos are here http://s1064.beta.photobucket.com/user/Unclepeas/library/1972%20Triumph%20GT6 Body: You will notice in the photos that the body lines match up nicely, and the hood and bumper hold nice even gaps. The doors open and close smoothly, as does the rear hatch. The body is very solid and passes the magnet test without issue. I will be posting photos of the car with small magnetic business card strength magnets, showing that they do stick, and that the car is solid steel, and not full of filler! The paint has some minor scratches but holds a great shine and has nice depth. Though it's glassy smooth with no orange peel, a professional buff job would work wonders. The engine is the standard 2.0L 6 cylinder engine that the GT6 came factory. I've replaced the timing cover gasket & seal, manifold gasket, valve cover gasket along with the poly washers at the studs. New plugs, points & condenser, plug wires, cap and rotor. The Dual 1 1/2" Strombergs have been fully disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled with new gaskets, needle & seat, as well as new diaphragms. They have been fully adjusted & air flow balanced. The choke cables operate as they should, and the car starts very easily, and runs very well! The non overdrive 4 speed transmission shifts smooth and quiet. The gaskets, seals and shift lever bushings have been replaced. A new clutch, pressure plate and release bearing have all been installed as well as a new master & slave cylinder. New U- joints in the rear axles, rotoflex couplers, wheel bearings, and rear trunions. Suspension. All 4 new shocks, front trunions have been replaced along with new tie rod ends and ball joints. Brakes. New Master cylinder, calipers, pads, rear drums, shoes, rubber hoses and a few steel lines replaced. You will notice in the photos that there are no door gaskets. After fighting with a very poor quality set of "furflex" from Victoria British that didn't fit, nor would they stay on. I simply tossed them aside and will be fitting a good quality pair of door gaskets. Interior:The new Carelli carpet from the UK is a nice plush heavy duty carpet. The fabric on the door panels is the original and in good cosmetic condition. However, the hard board backing definitely shows it's age. The dash is a new replacement from Ebay seller visvis44. His workmanship is outstanding, and the dash is definitely a compliment to the interior of of this car. The headliner and visors are the original. The headliner has some small tears towards the rear hatch area. The visors operate, but the mirror on the passenger side is loose, and the drivers side has the usual soft mushy feel that they get when old. Both parcel trays are in place and in very good condition. Chrome. The rear bumper is very straight, though it does have some pitting. The front bumper isn't perfect, and has some scratches and minor imperfections. Nothing hideous, but not show quality! The trim around the rear light area is very nice, as are both of the hard to find lower stainless steel strips along the bottom of the rockers. The glass is in good- to average condition for a car that is 42 years old. The windows roll up and down freely as they should, as well do the wing and quarter glass operate and latch as they should. The windshield has some noticeable scratches as a result of bad wiper blades. All electrical components work as they should. Including the key buzzer! You'll notice that there is no radio as I left that to the buyers personal preference. Exhaust: The exhaust is a stock GT6 system with a front resonator and the large rear muffler. These items are not new, but are very solid, They've been painted with high heat paint as an attempt to extend their life and add to the cosmetics. The photos make this car look more red than maroon. It is in fact, Carmine red, which is more of a dark burgundy than red. I will try taking some photos in different sunlight. With the Iowa winter having the roads a mess, I don't feel right about driving this car to a park or some place to take it's photos. I'll try again at a different hour of the day. Again, if you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask prior to bidding! If you would like to see the car in person, I am available most all the time. Thank you for your interest, and remember,, Bid Early, Bid Often!! :-) Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.
