For Sale: 1985 volkswagen bus/van, 4 cylinder, 4 speed manual transmission. I recently found this rare find, I have the clear title. The van is at a friend of mines, I am not sure of the exact miles but I will find out. When I had the title put in my name I told the person at the bmv but she said it doesnt matter it's old enough so it's exempt so thats what the title says. All I remeber is it is over 99,000. I bought it just to resell. This is a project bus meaning it is not ready to drive until some work is done first. I recently found this collectible vw bus, it was parked and the grass and weeds were growing up around it. The bus hasn't been started for at least 8 years. I sprayed some starter fluid in it and it started but I had to keep pumping the gas and it ran rough, but it does run. I tried each gear and it would start to move in all gears. This is all that I know about the mechanical side. I will try to describe the vehicle as accurately as possible. The bus is silver but parts of the clearcoat is peeling in places, but no rust to speak of. (See Pictures). All of the doors including the slider work great meaning they all work and will lock and unlock. The tires are in need of replacing (dryrot). The interrior ( BLUE VELOUR) is dirty but no rips or tears, shampoo and cleaning will bring it all back. It has the oversize air conditioner in the back. The middle seat is loose from the mount but just needs to be re clamped down, probably used as a camper. It has the original large velour matress which goes behind the 3rd seat. It also has some very cool decals, Greatful dead, vw peace, circular vw bus decal, very cool! I think all it needs is a complete tune up, plugs, plug wires, clean carb., fuel filter, etc. The gas might need to be drained and put in new I am not the mechanical type but I know a collectible when I see it. These rare buses in good and running condition bring a ton of money, just look up some here on EBAY. I am pricing this to sell. Once again it is NOT READY TO DRIVE. It will have to trailered or towed away.
