Vehicle Detail
Very beautiful, very stock, very original, great running and driving, museum-piece example of a Southern California Black Plate (see pics) 1963 Oldsmobile Jetfire F-85. I am the neighborhood Ebay go-to guy and am selling it for a friend who lives down the street. This is an extremely pristine example of a very historic American automobile. It represents Detroit's first foray into turbo-charging. And based on the condition of the original components and the fact that it was last licensed (prior to resto) in SoCal in 1972, I am pretty sure the miles are original. It literally sat from 1972 until 2002 and has been driven less than a thousand miles since then.It has been restored to factory original condition other than a very cool and expensive ghost flame paint job, Grant steering wheel (stock steering wheel included), and 2 1/4 inch diameter exhaust with a Flow Master muffler. Even better... it has been upgraded from manual brakes and manual steering to power brakes and power steering using all factory components. Original manual steering and brake parts come with car if you want them. Here are some details from the owner...1963 Oldsmobile JetfireThe 1962 & 1963 Jetfire were the first factory produced turbo-charged cars in the U.S.Because of a pressurized water injection system these cars were recalled in 1964 & turbo systems were removed & replaced with a four barrel carb system. There were only a total of 9,607 cars produced during both model years. The original turbo, carb, intake & exhaust are available at additional cost. This restoration project began in 2002 and was completed in 2004. Vehicle was stripped & totally repainted, at which time no rust or accident damage was found anywhere. The car originated in Southern California and has been garaged since restoration. The original seats are still in the vehicle & help substantiate the original miles of 20,122 at time of restoration (current mileage 21,044). In fact, the interior is entirely original other than carpet and headliner. Engine and transmission were rebuilt; new headliner, carpet and trunk mat; weather stripping, door and window seals & window guides replaced; all new brakes, cylinders and pads; all new suspension, bushings and springs; new exhaust system; all exterior chrome was replated and stainless steel polished; new four core cross flow radiator with OFFENHAUSER aluminum valve covers installed on engine; Hose Candy on hoses. All parts removed during restoration have been retained. Additional parts, new & used but not installed are available (i.e. new head-liner, grill, hood chrome, rear fender skirts, new rear seat belts, dealer installed reverb unit, chrome air cleaner that needs a reducer to fit the four barrel carb, etc.). Documentation and most receipts for work go with vehicle. And that includes a nifty '63 Oldsmobile brochure, copy of the original Press Kit, Car and Driver Road Test and Sun Electric Spec Sheet (all factory settings).More details...1. Factory headers, intake and crossover for turbo installation. Radio reverb unit used with new speaker. Factory side trim inserts. Additional grill, and hood chrome.Depending on the final selling price, I may consider including some or all of these goodies.I have driven this one-of-a-kind beauty and love it. It drives wonderfully and everything works great. I sure hope it ends up in the hands of someone who recognizes it's rarity and historical significance.
