1985 was the last year Mercedes made the gorgeous 123 series 2 door coupe . The 300CD were built from 1978 until 1985 and only since 1982 did they have the turbo charger with the 3 liter 5 cylinder engine . This engine already had a reputation for being extremely reliable and very economical .Now with the introduction of the turbo in 1982 and the upgraded horsepower , they also had plenty of power.These cars are truly fun to drive and remind you of a time , when cars were built to last a lifetime and not just until the next years model comes along . This coupe feels very solid in town and on the freeway . The doors close like a safe and you can really feel , you are sitting in a car of high quality . This 300CD started its life in 1985 , when it was purchased by the original owner in Santa Barbara /CA . The last few years it has spent in Costa Mesa/CA . It was almost always garaged and just not driven as much anymore . This car  has always been maintained very well and it shows in the way it looks and the way it drives . I also do have the stamped service book for it .  It was finished in Anthracite grey ( MB color code 172) with black MB-tex interior . The body and the paint are in amazing condition . The paint still shines like new and there are only a couple of tiny door dings . This car has always only been in California and there is no rust at all . The interior is super clean as well . There are no rips or tears in the seats , the carpets are clean and even the original wood is still in amazing condition . All the gauges are working the way they should . All the windows are working perfectly and even the back windows are going all the way up and all the way down making this a true pillar-less coupe.  With only 137k miles it is a low mileage 27 year old Mercedes diesel  and it should last another 300k miles with the right maintenance . This 300CD always starts up right away and it has plenty of power from the get go  . It cruises comfortably at 85mph while still getting 25-27 mpg of diesel . It would be the perfect reliable car for somebody who drives a lot of miles every day . You could also convert it to run on Bio diesel , where you can drive it on vegetable oil or even free waste oil from restaurants . In the condition this car is in and with the low miles/ last year made it would also be a great car for a car collector . Prices on the 123 series coupes have been going up over the last few years and they just do not make them like this anymore .
