1988 BMW 528e 2.7 Super Eta Automatic e28 The most refined and last year for the one of the best-engineered, reliable and economical cars that BMW ever produced. This is the final installment in my trio of proven, solid, safe, reliable, luxurious and economical cars. I have become somewhat of a collector of older German cars that blend practicality, efficiency, reliability and style. I love researching and gathering odd options/upgrades for them and having the best mechanics complete specific work on them. Most importantly, I really enjoy driving them on long treks. I searched for this 528e for over a year. I purchased it from the original owner who purchased it brand new as his retirement vehicle. He used to drive it from Toronto to Florida where he spent his winters. I continued the tradition of sparing it from winter driving and, with the help of Krown rustproofing, it remains absolutely rust-free. I've now owned it for twelve years. It's still an incredible car. Bullet-proof reliable, as solid as if it were carved from a block of granite, amazingly powerful and efficient. Over the years I've collected many unusual original accessories for this car and as a result, this vehicle has every original option (except for heated seats - the original owner deliberately omitted those!) with the addition of many features that were never available in North America. I have all of the service records back to new and even the original sales receipt. Since I have owned the car it has been serviced exclusively by Don Katsumi at Autotrend in Toronto; a wonderful guy and possibly the best vintage BMW mechanic in Canada by reputation. Don's spring and fall service packages have kept this vehicle in tip-top mechanical shape since we purchased it. It has run synthetic oil exclusively for the past 12 years, changed the sooner of every 4,000km or six months. As noted in my other listings, I'm a lawyer by trade and my practice has really taken off in the past year. My wife and I recently moved into a house with a very small garage, I have no time or space for my "high-end econo car" hobby any more. I hate the idea of selling any cars from our "collection", but it really makes zero sense for me to continually pay to store vehicles we barely drive. This 528e needs to go to someone that will continue to properly take care of it and make regular use of it. Features: - Mechanically perfect; I have nothing else to say there, it really is like new. - Every possible factory option and they all work (except for heated seats, which were deliberately deleted as an option by the original owner) - Full leather interior in near mint condition, no rips or tears anywhere, seats were recently reconditioned to like-new condition. - Fully functional power front seats - Ice cold a/c - Power everything including sunroof; everything works like it should - Refinished to better-than-new quality (a $1000 job) genuine BBS e28 16" M5 rims with Firestone Firehawk high performance tires (about 90% tread left) - New bilstein shocks four years ago with bavarian auto sport/comfort springs (slightly lowered profile - makes for sleek look, better handling and better mileage) - New trunk and sunroof seals - New window seals on driver and passenger doors - Brand new power heated mirror assemblies and mirror glass - New factory exhaust system in 2010 Upgrades: - European H4 headlights with white halogen bulbs; twice as bright as North American original headlights with larger diameter outside lights with driving lights --- a very cool, sporty look; I imported those from France. - Alpine ida-x001 Stereo with full iPod interface with JBL speakers (colour scheme and retro clock radio-type display PERFECTLY matches car as you can see on the photos - always loved that) - 35% U/V block professional window tint - Leather three-spoke factory BMW sport steering wheel - Walnut shifter - Super-rare rear window pull-up shade. I imported that from the Netherlands. Notable points: - Super low mileage - Krown rust proofed every year of ownership - 100% original paint - Records back to new Extras: - Brand new BMW front and rear windshield seals, chrome strip inserts and clips sealed in original BMW packaging. My plan was always to have the car painted and to instal these in the process, but I never had the time to coordinate that. Issues: - 25 year old vehicle; not cosmetically perfect, but as close as I could get it! - Unfortunately afflicted by late 80's BMW paint. As you can see from every single late 80's BMW listed on ebay, late 80's BMW paint is almost inevitably badly oxidized. Unfortunately, having spent its winters in the Florida sun (and having driven through countless crappy Florida car washes early in its life), the paint on any top surface of this car is in terrible shape (documented in photos). As noted, I intended to have the car stripped and repainted and to replace the front and rear windshield seals and trim in the process but ran out of time. That would still be the ideal if the new owner can manage it; this car has MANY years left in it; the more stylishly those years may be lived, the better! Conditions of Sale and Payment Terms - Selling as-is with no warranties of any kind. - If buyer isn't local, buyer will responsible for all costs of transport of vehicle in addition to purchase price, which will include buyers importation costs and taxes (if any) if buyer is located in the U.S. - A non-refundable deposit of $500 will be due within 48 hours of the auction close via paypal. Full payment of the purchase price (minus the deposit) will be due within 7 days of auction close. A money order or certified check payable at a Canadian bank is preferred for the final payment. Delivery - Following receipt of full payment I will be happy to make arrangements to deliver the vehicle to a location within an hour of the Toronto area at a mutually convenient time.
