Vehicle Detail
For Sale 1986 4Runner DLX, automatic trans, always garaged, never been in salt or snow, originally a west coast truck, I'm the second owner, bought it from original owner last year. I'm a mechanic who owns an auto repair shop and I have been working on these trucks for years, this is one of the cleanest 4Runners I have ever seen, very difficult to find them this clean, impossible to find them this nice in the northeast. I have another 4Runner (1987) that does snow duty that's why the 86 gets to avoid the snow and live in the garage just like the first owner kept it. When I bought this truck it had always been cared for but as with any vehicle that's 26 years old it needed a few things, so I fixed all (but one) of the problems it had, some of them are very common to this vehicle and engine. The one item the truck could use but doesn't have to have is new front brake rotors, the front brakes do pulsate when coming to a stop, they work fine, but admittedly the pulsation can be a little annoying. Since it isn't driven all that much I haven't replaced them. Everything works on this truk and it's very clean underneth, no rust, no leaks, no accidents, some of the 4Runners here on E-Bay look nice but the underside tells a different story, this 4Runner simply couldn't be any nicer for a 26 year old vehicle. I can provide additional pictures upon request of anything anyone wants to see. The brush guard on the front bumper has been removed, if the winning bidder wants it you're welcome to it. The truck also has different wheels, it has the traditional SR5 aluminum rims and new tires. 1. Installed new double roller timing chain and kit from LCengineering including a new oil pump, water pump, timing chain cover, and steel chain guides. Very common problem with the 22R is the timing chain guides get worn out and break and the chain will "saw" it's way through the cover, most peaple don't even know it's happening, it's fixed now so no worries. 2. New rear springs and shackle bushings to fix the rear sag that all first generation 4Runners have because Toyota used the same springs they used on the pick-up, no compensation was made for the additional weight of the top and tailgate. Also installed new Trailmaster shocks at all 4 corners and a new steering stabilizer. 3. Serviced and changed all fluids including the engine, trans, transfer case, both differentials, brake and power steering. Power steering pump was completely taken apart and all seals were replaced, nothing leaks on this truck, it is clean and leak free underneth like a new car. 4. Installed new Goodyear Wrangler tires (P235/75R 15) on SR5 rims that are in good condition with center caps. Wheels were not on the truck when the pictures were taken, sorry about that, the wheels pictured will be included with the truck as well. 5. New speedo cable to replace the loud and annoying one that drove me crazy the first month I owned the truck. Also got a new DieHard battery. 6. New CD player and a set of fog lights installed on the front bumper that are wired properly to an existing switch on the dash. Also installed a set of gauges near the console, (oil pressure, water temp, voltage) because this model had no factory gauges. On Dec-21-12 at 09:26:08 PST, seller added the following information: OK, I added some more pics of the interior and a few of the engine, the front seats are in good condition but I covered them with some neoprene seat covers from Auto Anything ($150) to protect them from further wear. I keep the back seat folded down ( the seat is perfect ) to increase the available cargo room and I have a piece of thick cardboard on the rear floor to act as a bedliner.
