Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for sale is my one owner 280SL with rare 4-speed manual. Never had any rust or damage. The fenders, floors, trunk floor, are all original. This car has been repainted once in the original color Horizon Blue and is in excellent condition. Paint shines like a mirror. Car has the original interior. Car comes with the original working Becker radio. This car has all the spot welds located on the inner fenders as well as under the trunk area. This car also has the notches by the headlights in both lights. Car was always taken care of by a reputable Mercedes Mechanic and was gone through completely prior to listing for sale, including transmission service (replaced the bushings). Brakes, tires, etc., are excellent. Just put in a new battery and replaced the shocks (original from '69!) with a brand new OEM pair. I have the original owner information when he bought it brand new on April 24, 1969. Also comes with the data card. Car comes with every kind of original documentation and Mercedes booklet there is. This is a honest original 280SL. All body panel numbers are matching in the hood, soft top lid, doors, and trunk. All the interior lights work. The clock even works. The steering wheel is almost new since it was covered for over 40 years with a steering wheel cover (which I have removed). Soft top frame is excellent- goes up and down properly as it should. Soft top is ready for replacement due to some yellowing of the window but I am including in the sale a brand new OEM German Canvas top which cost me $1200. Hard top is also in excellent condition. This car has never been in any kind of accident or had any kind of body work done. Car has always been stored in a heated garage and driven on nice summer/ spring days only. This is an extremely well maintained, original, and honest car. Car still has the original license plate which I will also include in the sale if I am legally able to (depends on what state the buyer is in). On Dec-20-12 at 10:44:00 PST, seller added the following information: The odometer stopped working a short time ago. I put about 200 miles on since then. I will include in the sale another odometer I recently purchased since they don't sell the odometer cable seperately. There is a small dent in the right hand rear bumper ( I have pictures that it has been there since '72) and small dent under the left bumper. Small area of surface rust (can be taken out with wire brush) under the rubber mat in the trunk. Paint is excellent. The stamp is missing from the driver side corner of the hood. Original owner maintains that the hood is original and no body work but stamp is not there. I am not a mechanic and do not hold myself out to be- private inspections are welcome and any questions will be answered by email.
