Vehicle Detail

1972 Porsche 911T Coupe Silver     San Francisco, CA   415-205-0716   sales@carplanet.com 1972 Porsche 911T Coupe Up for NO RESERVE auction! This matching numbers 1972 Porsche 911T Coupe was sold new at the Porsche Audi Manhattan dealership in New York, NY on 10/12/71. It then moved with it's second owner to a garage in Connecticut where it resided until it was sold at an estate auction in 1999. Original special order Silver Metallic with original Black leatherette interior. Original 2.4 liter engine runs strong with good leak down results. Original 5 speed shifts great with record of a rebuild. 15" x 6" Fuchs alloy wheels. Factory A/C. Only 87K original miles. Excellent original dash. Original maintenance record book. Professionally rebuilt MFI pump. Fog lights. The only year early 911 with the side oil filler. This is a very desirable survivor class 2.4 MFI Porsche 911. The next owner can enjoy it now and restore it over time while it's value continues to increase. The following is a detailed description of the car, along with over 100 photos and 3 videos. iPad and iPhone viewers can access photos by clicking HERE. Please email or call us at 415-205-0716, if you have any questions. Photos and Videos                                Body, Trim and Paint Overall, the body is very original with majority of the upper body and undercarriage showing no rust. The only area that will require rust repair is the driver side lock post and rocker area near the jack receptacle. This rust is not serious enough to effect the drivability of the car. All body panels appear to be original and there is no evidence of metal replacement or patches. The undercarriage appears to be all original and the original undercoating is still present throughout the undercarriage. The hood, both doors and deck lid all close easily with fair to excellent gaps. All trim parts are present and the majority appear to be the originals including the original black anodized engine grille and  decklid emblems. All brightwork displays good shine.  All original glass. Original side mirror is installed. Some weatherstripping is missing (e.g. between the taillights and rear bumpers). The paint color remains in it's original special order Silver Metallic (color code 936) with the majority of the paint appearing to be an older repaint. There are early records of a repaint completed in 1975. The surfaces of the hood and roof  show evidence of an amateur attempt to strip the old paint, but no attempt was made to strip paint on the other panels. Overall, the paint is acceptable for a driver and exhibits a bit of a  cool survivor  look. Interior The   Black leatherette interior is all original and remains in well preserved condition. With it's nearly perfect original dash, nice original carpet, good original map pockets and  original seats, the interior condition is definitely representative of an 87k original mile car. Sunvisors and the headliner is also the originals. The gauges, switches and  emblems on the face of the dash are all present. Electricals Headlights (low and high beams), tail lights, brake lights, reverse lights, turn signals, horn, fresh air fan and windshield wipers all function.  This 911 was ordered with the factory air conditioning system and both the a/c compressor and a/c blower still function. Also rarely seen, the original Blaupunkt AM/FM radio is still present and is functional. Speedometer, tachometer, oil temp, oil pressure and fuel gauges are functional. Even the  clock works! Emergency brake and generator warning lights are functional. The odometer is functional and currently reads 87,242 original miles. Two fresh Interstate 12 volt batteries are installed.                     Engine and Transmission The engine is the original numbers matching 2.4 liter (engine number 6120945), factory rated at 140HP. The engine starts easily and accelerates smoothly with very good power. There is no smoking during hard acceleration. No unusual sounds coming from the engine, just the great sounds you expect from a well tuned 2.4 MFI engine. Desirable upgrades to the engine include stainless steel heat exchangers and  turbo valve covers. Since it's reawakening in 1999, the original MFI pump was professionally rebuilt and a new clutch was installed. The following engine related service is documented: 12/20/99 (@ 69,861 miles) - Check and adjust fuel mixture, set points and timing. Noted the need for injection pump rebuild. 5/16/05 (@ 82,345 miles) - Replaced fuel pump, replaced all fuel lines, adjusted full throttle position, adjusted injection pump 5/7/08 - Original MFI pump professionally rebuilt by Pacific Fuel Injection in South San Francisco. 5/5/11 - Cleaned spark plugs, gapped points, adjusted throttle linkage, check pump for timing, setup and run on dyno. A leakdown test was also completed with the following results: #1 - 10%, #2 - 6%, #3 - 10%, #4 - 6%, #5 - 6%, #6 - 10% The original 915 five speed transmission shifts smoothly with no grinding in any gears. Service records note a transmission rebuild completed on 7/19/1999.   Suspension, Wheels, Tires and Brakes The suspension rides  well, but is a bit firmer than normal. A set of new shocks would definitely improve the ride. Steering response feels normal and wheel alignment is very good with no vibration felt at high speed. Overall, this 911T has the feel of a low mileage original survivor. The original 15" x 6" anodized Fuchs alloy wheels are in  good original condition. 195/65HR15 sized  Cooper radial tires  are in good condition with even tread wear. The brakes are functioning well. There are no records of recent brake work, but prior owner stated that some brake work was completed. The emergency brake holds tight.               Extra Parts and Documentation The following extra parts are included:  Spare wheel, original jack and original preheat flapper. Documentation includes original maintenance book, original registration certificate from 1972 and  various service records back to 2/24/72, including records for a transmission rebuild and professionally rebuilt MFI pump.
