Vehicle Detail
Due to my daughter turning 1 my Scirocco is now somewhat impracticle and not seeing much use. Sadly it is time to sell. I bought the car from the original owner after a couple of years of persuasion. She used it regularly for her short commute to the hospital and not during Winters. She was also 4 foot 9 inches and maybe weighed 110 lbs hence the remarkable condition of the driver's seat showing little if no wear at all. When I purchased the car the only thing my mechanic suggested was to replace the rear shoes and drums which I did. I used the car for my commute to work for Summer 2010/Summer 2011 with the occasional longer trip to the airport. Daughter was born just over a year ago and now a baby seat will not fit and coupe's are out. The car comes with Ontario paperwork as proof I am the second owner and also I have put on 9000km. The car has clear title/ownership in my name. It is an original Canadian car so speedo is in km. Due to the rarity of these cars I will also assist any European buyers with shipping at your cost. The car spent both its Winters in a dry and clean storage. The good. Car is very solid. Exterior the paint still shines very well. All decals etc are present. Interior is spotless, seats are like new, headliner like new, all gauges work as does the in dash computer. Anyone who has seen these, a small LCD display which allows you to scroll though gas mileage, temp etc. All very advanced for 1985 and in full working order. Car has manual windows etc. so less to go wrong. No sunroof. Car starts first time and engine pulls through all gears with no smoke, rattles or clunks. Car stops fine. The car was serviced regularly by the original owner at VW and later by a German specialty garage. The way the car presents really seems like it has less than half the mileage. Uploaded pictures as requested of engine bay, filler flap, leading edge of hood and trailing edge of tailgate. Attempted tp picture underside but only have a trolley jack no hoist. The bad. Sadly with all the excitement at the end of last year I ran the car through the carwash and put the car in storage. This has led to rust on the drivers side lower door edge. It is surface rust and not rot. It would be a very simple fix. The passenger side is spared so I assume that due to the driver's door being the one used all the time that the paint had worn allowing this to happen. A shame as the ad would have read "...completely rust free time capsule car...". Although a quick fix and would have raised the final value at auction I felt best to let buyer know the car's fault. I have only found one other Scirocco on E-bay in quite a while and that was a salvage car with a Buy it Now of $2100. I used this as a starting point. This is a no reserve auction and as I said will assist if the car is heading overseas. I am aware that shippers sometimes have delays. Costs to seaport are approx $750 and I believe Ro-Ro to Europe approx $1000.
