1973 P1800ES- This is a solid, extremely nice vehicle to enjoy every day. If you take it home, hope you take care of it. It is being sold as is-where is. It is equipped with a 4 cylinder 2.0L 124 bhp Bosch FI engine and a 4 speed; electric OD transmission. Plenty of room for traveling in style and do it economically. Since 1960 I have always had Volvo, including two P1800E Coupes. I enjoyed them all, but this ES was my favorite. I purchased it from the original owner in Memphis, TN and I have kept it for 31 years. I had planned to keep it “forever,” but it is time to let it go to a new home. It is a “rust free”, smoke free southern car kept in storage or garaged only brought out and driven a few times a year to check everything. A recent inspection found that some of the original undercoating had dried and was flaking off. As you can see in the attached photos, only slight oxidized surface rust was found. These areas were re-coated. Restored in 2004 at 92,090 miles, current mileage is only 93,8xx. Restoration included complete out of vehicle engine rebuild, with new clutch, pressure plate, etc. Not out of necessity, but just wanted her in top condition. An electronic ignition was installed, so no points to adjust. The exhaust system was completely replaced. Brake and calipers rebuilt, shocks replaced. Even the gas tank was removed cleaned and coated, just to be on the safe side. The radio was changed to AM/FM tape. The FM band played intermittently last week, so the radio may need to be replaced. The original radio goes with the car. The windshield washer motor doesn’t work. I saw a couple on eBay last week, but elected not to purchase one. Everything else works, including the clock! After restoring the mechanicals, the car was beautifully refinished with the original color Sun Yellow. This was done with all hardware (bumpers, chrome, etc), doors and panels, rear hatch, and rubber moldings removed. After repainting new rubber moldings were installed. At a recent car show, it received many great compliments and more than one professional asked if the paint was original (meaning there was no sign of ever being taped for painting). The driver’s side door chrome strip does some slight door dings which that do not show up well in a photo. The paint was not touched. The original interior is in excellent condition; except for one stain about 2” square on the cargo carpet. The car does not have A/C, but I do have the major components that go with the car. Also there is an extra computer box and some other misc spare parts including several shop and part manuals. A $500 deposit is required within 48 hours of close of auction.
