Vehicle Detail
Offered for your consideration is a fantastic original 230S. I believe the 230S model is one of the best classic Mercedes to own. Last year of the series, it has all the improvements over earlier models, yet retains the classic lines. These cars are very elegant, "modern" and comfortable, yet simple and inexpensive to maintain. The trick of course, is finding a solid enough car, as most have rusted away long time ago! The car is 100% rust free and is a prime restoration candidate! It still has original paint and interior in good condition. At only 130k miles, the car runs and drives fantastic. I drove it home across the state when I bought it. Fresh tune up of ignition system and brand new carburators ($1500 investment). The engine has tons of power and pulls very smooth and strong, it does not smoke at all. It starts instantly every time. Transmission is 4-speed automatic, column shift, and it works great. Brakes are excellent. Only known mechanical issues are leaking power steering pump (seal kit is $5!), hand brake needs adjustment, and rear muffler is needed (middle muffler is new). Interior is in remarkable shape for this vintage. The dashboard is excellent, door panels are fantastic, seats are original MBTex and are in unbelievable shape with few small fixable imperfections. You will need to fit new carpet kit (it costs under $200). Electrical system is in great shape, everything works. All the gauges are operative. Original ivory steering wheel is in good shape as well. Headliner is excellent, no stains or tears at all, nice and tight. Did I mention the car is 100% rust free?! The body is mostly very straight. Dent in driver’s side door, and the panel next to pass side headlight needs a little work. Nice clean rocker panels and floor boards, original undercoating, no rust ever. Original tools, jack and trunk mats. Full set of original books and manuals. Overall this is an excellent project car that would be a very easy restoration. Drive it while doing cosmetic improvements. Cars of this vintage in this nice original condition do not come up very often, and I feel bad about selling it, but I’m losing my storage space, and have other projects that take priority. I will assist with shipping arrangements if needed at buyer’s expense. Please only bid if you intend to buy. I encourage vehicle inspection prior to bidding. The car is located in downtown Seattle, and is available for inspection. Just call 2o6-38o-3976.
