LOOKING FOR A MB 560 SL? AFTER PURCHASING MANY OF THESE VEHICLES ON EBAY - I WOULD OFFER THE FOLLOWING ADVICE: "CAVEAT EMPTOR" (LET THE BUYER BEWARE)! MANY OF THESE VEHILCES ARE OFFERED FOR SALE AND THE PICTURES AND DESCRIPTIONS ARE ALMOST ALWAYS MISLEADING. MANY ARE BEING SOLD BECAUSE THEY NEED REPAIRS (SOMETIMES MAJOR) AND YOU CAN REALLY GET STUNG! LOW MILEAGE IS NOT AN INDICATION OF THE CONDITION OF THE VEHICLE AS THEY MAY NOT HAVE BEEN WELL CARED FOR. HIGHER MILEAGE VEHICLES IN GOOD CONDITION ARE OFTEN VERY GOOD BUYS.THE ENGINES AND TRANSMISSIONS ON THESE "PANZER WAGONS" ARE GOOD FOR 500,000 MILES BEFORE ANY MAJOR SERVICE IS REQUIRED. ABOUT THE 560 SL: PRODUCTION OF THE "107" BEGAN IN 1972 AND TERMINATED IN 1989 WITH THE 560 SL. MERCEDES THUS HAD 17 YEARS TO CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVE THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN DUBBED "THE PANZER WAGON" BECAUSE OF ITS WORKMANSHIP AND DURABILITY. THE 560SL WAS PRODUCED FROM 1986-1989 AND IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE MOST POPULAR AND COLLECTIBLE. THESE SUPER CRAFTED MOTORCARS WILL CONTINUE TO BE ROADWORTHY DUE TO THEIR PURE MECHANICAL SIMPLICIY. A GUY WITH A SET OF TOOLS AND A MANUAL WILL ALWAYS BE AROUND TO WORK ON THESE GEMS FROM MB, MUCH THE SAME WAY CARS FROM THE 20'S AND 30'S ARE REBUILT AND MAINTAINED SO SIMPLY TODAY. THE PAINT OF THESE CARS WILL OUTLAST THE NEW PAINTS TEN TO ONE. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A TRUE FUN WEEKEND CAR WITH COLLECTOR APPEAL ONE OF THESE CARS IS A GREAT WAY TO GO! THE EXTERIOR IS FINISHISED IN SIERRA BROWN PEARL WHICH HAS A METALLIC FINISH.PAINT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. INTERIOR IS FINSHISHED IN BEIGE AND IS IN "AS NEW CONDITION". FLOOR MATS ARE FURNISHED AND ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.TIRES ARE MATCHING MICHELINS WITH PLENTY OF TREADWEAR LEFT. GOLD TRIM ON HOOD AND TRUNK. CHROME ACCENTS ON WHEEL WELLS.THERE ARE A FEW CRACKS ON THE DASH - VERY COMMON ON THESE CARS (MOST VEHICLES NOT STORED IN GARAGE SHOW MAJOR DETERIORATION OF DASH AND ARE OFTEN RECOVERED). THE ENGINE FIRES UP WITHOUT HESITATION AND RUNS VERY SMOOTHLY. THE STEERING IS TIGHT AND THE CAR DRIVES IN A STRAIGHT LINE WITHOUT SIGN OF WHEEL IMBALANCE OR MISALIGNMENT.
