Vehicle Detail

This is a 1943 Chevy 1 1/2 ton WWII Military Fire Truck built under war contract by the Buffalo Fire Appliance Co. for the Army Corps of Engineers for use at a Army Airfield/Air force bases. This is a very rare truck, only 50 were made in 1943 and this is the only one I know of still around and I only know of 2 other Buffalo's from WWII. the truck: Florida Titled....The truck is all original and has a 216 cu.in motor and a 5 spd transmission. it does run and move but has no brakes. the electrical syatem is 6 volt. The pump is a Hale 500 GPM single stage. This truck does have a water tank ( 500 gal) but it is very rusted and was taken out. This truck needs a total restoration and it has no rust holes. what you see in the photos is all surface, this has been garages its entire life and is so today. History: This truck was built in 1943 and shipped to a WWII air base in Missouri and served there until the late 40's-early 50's when it was given to Leeton volunteer Fire Dept and they had it until the late 80's when it went to private hands. The trucks original color was O.D. green, then hand painted red (leeton) then hand painted once more back to O.D. green. The hood numbers can still be seen and read along with "Leeton F.D." Condition: As mentioned, this truck looks bad and needs to be fully restored. everything is original and the truck starts right up. The motor mounts have decayed and broke so I try not to overdue the engine. it does not smoke and has about 6000 miles on it. The Hale fire pump does not turn but based on my experience, the packing froze up...I think it will be an easy fix. I pressure washed the truck a few years ago and put it in the garage to start resoring it. The rear fenders, tailboard and hose reel are off. The hose bed was wood and rotten and the bed itself is unbolted but still on the truck. The tires are dry rotten but do hold air for a while. I have the following to go with the truck: original wood roof and extention ladder, stokes basket, folding stretcher, hard suction(not in the best condition), 2 "CD" hand pump extinguishers, a 2 1/2 brass bullalo extingusher, a small buffalo extinguisher, strainer, spanner wrenches, some handline nozzles, a Federal 6volt siren/light. I also have the firefighters manual for the truck and fire pump. Shipping: local pick up. truck estimated weight is about 7-8000 lbs and will require a flat bed trailer. it is about 21 ft long and a wheel base of 10 ft. ( I transported it on a goose neck farm trailer and towed it with a F350 with no problems. Sale will be by cashiers check only from a noted bank ( no credit unions please). once the bidding is over, the winning bidder has 5 days to mail me the funds and 15 days to remove it ( I will work with you) once payment is made. I am in no hurry to sell this truck, I want to keep it but its not going to be anytime soon before I can get the time to work on it. Thanks
