Vehicle Detail
From Edmunds description of 2001 Jeep Wrangler: "It has a stiff ride, offers about the same noise isolation as a motorcycle and has a soft top that's a nail-buster to operate. That said, the 2001 Jeep Wrangler also offers a visceral motoring experience like no other and the off-road ability of a mountain goat". And I love mine! Selling my low milage 2001 Jeep Wrangler. I am the second owner of this vehicle. Original owners leased it new and later bought it outright. As a third car for them I was lucky enough to purchase it almost 2 years ago with an incredible 55,000 miles. Right now it has only a meager 73,500 miles, still very low for it's age as it is a third vehicle for myself as well. I did need to do quite a bit of updating and maintenance when I first bought it but basically just worn or wearing out items. Had my mechanic go through the whole car changing all fluids, belts and hoses commensurate with a 12 year old car. I replaced the stock shock absorbers with Skyjacker Hydro's on the front and rear . These are direct replacements though better in my opinion than stock shocks. I was tempted but did not go for any lift-kits or increase in body height as the stock Jeep is already pretty high off the ground and I didn't want to sacrifice street perfromace for any type of fantasy Off-Road look which I have never done anyway. Likewise I replaced the worn steering stabilizer with a performance Old Man Emu unit. Made a big difference. Added new wide Firestone Destination A/T tires mated with Wide-Track "Ultra Wheel Rogue" machined mags, balanced and ready for installation from Tire Rack. Really sets off the appearance of this Jeep and the handling is so, so much better improved (softer ride) than the orginal BF Goodrich's (hard-as-nails ride) that were on it when I bought it. Wheel alignment was done as well. I added a frame specific tow bar and plug-and-play wiring harness (no cutting into the Jeep wiring harness) for trailer lights for some light-duty towing of motorcycles and kayaks. I repaired and/or replaced lots of missing hardware, all indicator lamps, a faulty fog-light switch within the steering column, fixed all the fender-flare trim and dealt with any and all little rust spots on the underside of the chassis due to salt. Right now I have the Hard-Top on the Jeep. The Soft-Top was only a year old when I bought the car so it is only 3 years old now. An OEM MOPAR part it is in excellent almost perfect condition (no rips or tears or leaks) although like all Jeep tops... sucks to put up (windows) and down if you are in a hurry. Plastic windows are clear and zippers in great shape. I also have the original set of Jeep steel wheels with almost new (maybe 2000 miles) Michelin Blizzak Snow tires, mounted & balanced ready for this Winter. Traditionally by now I have usually changed out the wide wheel and tires on the car new for the snows but will leave that up to the new owner. Besides better performance in the winter with the snows it keeps the wide tires and mags free of salt and winter grime and looking sharp and excellent. Upon purchase we can do that swap together in my driveway if you would like, easy 1 hour job. I always rotate all 5 of my tires including the spare. A lot of other little do-dads I have added from the Quadratec Jeep catalog like hard-wired window mounted driving lights, lens protectors, new door handles and hood hinges etc. Has really been lots of fun doing all the light bolt-on customization. I'm impressed enough with this little Jeep that I am in the process of buying a new Jeep Unlimited (big 4-door) and so sadly this little Wrangler must go. It does have a couple chips and dents but it will be apparent upon close inspection that it has be kept with pride by both myself and the previous owner. 5 speed manual trans (the only way to buy a "real" Jeep) works perfect as does 4 wheel-drive (high and low). Engine bay is clean and clear and smart looking. I religiously have the oil and filter changed and all systems checked by my mechanic every 3000 miles and that was just done about 2 weeks ago so it should not need anything at all till about April when it's next maintenance would be due. Happy Bidding.
