Vehicle Detail

This is without a doubt, one of, if not THE nicest, '63 Corvairs available. It is totally original except for the correct 1" white bias ply tires, a correct reproduction Delco battery and 2 front wheel cylinders. This 3 owner Corvair has NEVER had any paintwork and the paint does not even have the normal "checking" or "cracking" anywhere, (it has been Professionaly checked with a paint meter and is completely consistant with the mils of Factory Lacquer), has always been kept in a heated garage (covered) and has never seen a drop of rain (still has the original Trico wipers). The car was purchased new in Montgomery, Al. at Capitol Chevrolet on March 16, 1963 by Mr. Johnie Oliver. This car was his baby and he went to extremes to care for it. There are NO rock chips (from following too close), the windshied is perfect, no dings, scrapes or scratches anywhere. I doubt if Mr. Oliver ever drove this car hot because there are no oil leaks from the usual defective Corvair oil seals. This Corvair belongs in the most discriminating Chevrolet collection or a museum. When you first look at it, you will swear it has just been restored but as you look closely, you soon see it to be 100% original. Mr. Oliver kept the original window sticker, owner's guide and plastic envelope, owner protection plan book with his name, all 7 of his registration certificates, his original loan payment book with envelope, the original carbon from the build sheet (if held up to a strong light you can make out the numbers), the original Dealer handout brochure showing available options, the instructions for the Dealer installed RARE working dash clock, vent shades and gas filler guard. Also had the Dealer install a trunk and engine compartment light. And all the paperwork is MINT! Only a genuine car lover would save all these items. Mr. Oliver only lived another 7 years or so and his wife simply kept the car in their garage until she passed many years later and it went to a true collector in North Carolina who never drove the car. When I bought it, the car was wrapped securely, up in the air on a lift, and untouched. Naturally I walked under the car looking for tell tale signs of use, oil leaks, rust, etc. and was quite surprised to see a factory undercoated, DRY and completely rust free bottom side. As the car was lowered I had him stop it halfway so I could look inside the rear air grills, under the doors, inside the fender wells, etc. What I saw was shiny push rod tubes (not even surface rust), perfect door bottoms, original spiral shocks, date coded panels throughout, untouched everything! I have been collecting for 50 years and never have seen such a well preserved Corvair in my life. When on the ground, I opened the doors and the surprises continued. Brand new in every way. Even still has the visor instruction sleeve still intact. The doors close with one finger and a distinctive "click", windows roll up and down with ease, not a mark on the steering wheel, ash trays and lighter never used, rear fold down seat looks like it has never had a package put on it, more than one would ever expect to find on an almost 50 year old car. Original T-3 headlights, unused jack and wrench, original spare, plug wires, coil, carbs (with tags) and on and on. Incredibly original everywhere. This car is ready to be shown anywhere and at any level. I added the wire wheel caps but the mint originals go with the car also. Notice the car has no rear side view mirror. Never had one and I couldn't bring myself to drill the holes to install one. Brake fluid was flushed and replaced with silicone and the fuel system was cleaned. The car is a sheer pleasure to drive and is flawless in it's performance. Not a rattle, squeak or wind noise. EVERY ITEM ON THE CAR WORKS AS IT DID WHEN DELIVERED NEW! Please ask questions as there is more to tell, but I'm starting to get long winded. I have plenty of pictures if you would like to see a specific area. If you would like date codes from individual items, I have them. Needless to say, this is a very unusual car and you won't be able to steal it, but it truly is for the most discriminating buyer, and investment wise, even though it's not a Camaro or Corvette, it is so original, there will ALWAYS be a market. Please bid accordingly, check my feedback, come see the car if you can and bid with confidence. US bidders only please and no negative or less tha 10 feedback bidders. Naturally all checks must clear my bank before car will be released. I respectfully will keep my Reserve private and my bidders private also to allow Dealers to bid as well.
