1966 Plymouth Valiant coupe. Original mileage 10817, Yes 10817. Storyline.....In '66 when this car was 8 month's old it was involved in an accident & the passenger side was damaged. Seeing how it was a "NEW" car the insurance company replaced the car for the insured. Enter Bernie Green....Bernie ran a little body & paint shop in Boise Idaho in 1966 and he was alway's fixing something...He bought this little car and planned on fixing it....He ordered all sorts of Original Chrysler parts to fix it (these are for sale on another ebay auction of mine). At about this same time Bernie purchased some property in Riggins Idaho and bid for the towing contract for that county...He Won that contract. His life got very busy as he had to buy tow trucks and other property to store the towed vehicles on. Riggins is where you "put in" if you want to fish Idaho's great Salmon river country. This is "below sea level" so its warm & nice most of the year... Not far away is McCall Idaho and the contract covered this Idaho winter wonderland on it's magnificent high mountian lake. The Valiant was tucked into the trees, covered and forgotten. Bernie was busier than a one armed paper hanger. He started a wrecking yard 12 mile's from his home and he just didn't have time for finishing things anymore. Fast forward 15 years and Bernie got dimensia and wandered through the forest in his own little world. He was being taken care of by his wife and family. His son was intrusted to sell the "yard"... "trucks" & property. I said I'd help move the the car's and parts as the son is one of my good friends. It almost put all of us in the hospital!! For helping we could have any "stuff" we wanted and there was tons of stuff!! One of the many thing's I chose was this Valiant. Because 70% of the part's to fix it were shoehorned inside the car. I started watching for a "parts" car. I haven't found one yet. I'm doing so many other thing's kinda like Bernie. If you want a great start on a great car this simple Valiant would be worth every bit of your time..The "Slant" six is one of the best Six's the world has ever seen. Look carefully at the photos and you'll see two of the original BF Goodrich Silvertown 660 tire's rotting away ...check the tread depth. Look at the pedals... the rubber floor mat...the perfect paint on the steering wheel...the paper inspection tag still hanging on the engine...the "certicard". This is a time capsule with 10000 mile's on it.... Great father / son project... Retired? hard to do better, if nothing else it has drive system with 10 800 miles on it!!
