I bought this car from the service writer of the BMW dealership in Scottsdale, AZ with 70K miles about 18 months ago. My friend and owner of Southwest Bimmers used to work their prior to moving to Las Vegas. His friend Scott serviced this car for the 5 years the Service Manager owned the car prior so all repairs have been done to this car you would expect including VANOS. I have the service records for the last 5 years plus the maintenance I have listed below. Highlights Avus Blue 88,900 miles Sport interior Titanium trim Black/Blue seats (recent application of Leatherique) Split Folding Rear Seat 2002 OEM Hella Headlight conversion Rear Park Distance Control 2001 Cluster (Grey dials and no dead pixels) Fresh 10W60 Oil change OBC shows 17.1 MPG so the last 18 months have been truly mostly highway Mods Evolve Alpha-N (removed SAP), Sport Button Memory, Diagnostic Code Reader Dinan Stage 4 Base ECU Dinan Carbon Fiber CAI Dinan Exhaust Dinan Front and Rear Sway Bar Dinan Stage 2 Suspension Dinan Floormats Brembo BBK 19" AC Schnitzer Type III Racing (Two piece wheels with real titanium bolts) Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 02 Hella Headlights with Umnitza 6000K Umnitza ICE V5. BMW Sunshade Weathertech trunk liner Thule 753 Roofrack Borbet 18" spare wheel and tire Dynavin headunit was never installed. I had planned to install but I never got around to it. The stereo still sounds decent, just a bit antiquated. Maintenance Completed in 2011-2012 X5 bushings Brake lines replaced (hose split in the driveway) Power Steering lines (all of them) Upper/Lower/Rear Main Seals Passenger front/rear window regulators Driver seat cable repair New bulbs for foglights and taillights New trunk struts New Interstate Battery New OEM wiper blades New radiator Blemishes If you made it this far you know this is a pretty good example of a 12 year old M Car. I will try to list all of the negatives I am aware of so no one wastes their time. No Alcantara headliner (optional in 1999-2000, standard in 2001-2003) No M-Audio (standard DSP Nokia Subwoofer) No Rear Sunshade No HomeLink Left A/C vent adjuster is broken but can be adjusted manually Sunroof will not vent but opens and closes fine with the one touch. Prior maintenance records show attempted repairs several times. I only open and close a sunroof so it was never an issue for me. Power folding mirror is slow on driver's side Driver's door door ding Window Seals showing their age but still a very quiet highway car. Left rear wheel has a small bend. Repair shop said it could be fixed but I don't have a spare set of wheels to use Oil consumption - Common and not an indication of a problem. I've been running 10W60 and it has slowed to about a quart every 2,500 miles. Good info at: M5board.com Head unit Navigation knob is very finnicky (volume knob is perfect). When the knob works it works flawlessly. When it acts up it only moves one menu direction left or right. That is the reason I bought the Dynavin but I never use the Navigation and once the OBC is set with the settings I want and daylight savings time twice a year I never mess with it so it hasn't been an issue to me.
