Vehicle Detail

This is a beautiful car just waiting for the right Studebaker lover to snatch it up. I am selling this for my Dad. This car was purchased in its present condition in 1998 from Nascar driver Mark Martin's classic car museum in Daytona Beach, FL. It has been garaged and driven very little since he has owned it. We didn't have any info on the restoration but the car was well done and is very solid. We're not pushing this as a low miler and we're not sure of the actual mileage but 28,000 is showing on the clock. This car has beautiful paint and just a scratch or two around it. They are too hard to see in the photos. The chrome on the bumpers and trim is good but some of it is not show quality. The interior is in great shape. There is a slight tear in the dash you can see in the pictures. Tires are brand new and have 0 miles on them. The hog troughs are good on this car as everyone wants to know. This car is stunning as you can see in the photos. Now for the not so great news. This car was started and driven on occasion while my dad owned it and he had a lot of fun but when he went down with some surgeries it was sitting for about three and a half years under cover. It always started right up but it did smoke just a little so we had planned to put new valve seals on it one day. They come with the car as well as new wires and plugs. Bottom line is he doesn't get in and out of it real well any more and is not excited about it. A few months back he decided to let this go since we started on some new projects he has a greater love for and we do need the space. We put a new battery in and it fired right up. Unfortunately it is smoking more and it has a miss. It does run and idle fine. I will try to get some video of it posted soon. At this time we do not want to investigate and fix the issue or spend time on the car. It does have an exhaust leak on the passenger side right where the manifold meets the exhaust. I believe there is a broken bolt. The drivers side glass does not fit perfectly when rolled up. It goes up and down all the way but if you roll through a car wash you will get some water. With this in mind, it is priced accordingly with plenty of meat left on the bone for the future lucky owner. This car would be listed for 25,000 otherwise. Hagerty insurance had the Avanti R2 in their top ten list of cars recently that they believe could dramatically increase in value over the next few years. They were stumped as to why it hasn't happened already and they have remained relatively affordable. This is the one to have! Only 738 R2's were produced with the 4 speed tranny. Now is your chance to own this legendary machine before they blow up! Thanks for looking, good luck and happy bidding. On Nov-13-12 at 11:12:45 PST, seller added the following information: Original paint code: 3364 It was red originally but when restored they used a more brilliant red.
