Vehicle Detail

1951 Chevrolet 3800 1-Ton Dually Flatbed Dump Mini (8ft) Grain Truck. 60k original miles! This is a REALLY NICE truck! It has been well-maintained it's whole life, and stored inside for most of it. It can sit for months and then fires right up on a frosty morning, ready to go. Nice original example that hasn't been overworked or monkeyed with. I've used it on the ranch, but it would be equally good as a show truck or a work truck or as advertising for your business. It gets on down the road just great and gets lots of attention everywhere. This was originally a grain truck. It comes complete with the metal back-gate and funnel. I purchased it from a very old woman. It was her fathers. He bought it new and delivered grain to town with it from his small farm. He always stored it inside. It was his favorite truck and he took very good care of it. BODY: The body is in great shape. The Deluxe Chrome Grille and Bumper are nice and straight (I probably don't need to tell you how hard it is to find an original chrome grille this nice). The paint is getting thin in some places and if re-painted it would be a first-class show truck. The floors are solid. The doors are solid. Overall this truck is preserved very well. The driver's cab corner has a small hole, but not bad compared to most of this era (see pictures). INTERIOR: The windows and doors work great. The windows roll down good. The original seat has a tear (see pictures). The windshield wiper switch is unhooked (I have the parts). Overall this is a very nice cab in original condition. The floor is very nice and solid. Could use a floor mat, but that is probably why it's not rusty. The optional blinkers still work. ENGINE and DRIVETRAIN: The 235 Six starts and runs purrrrfect. The fuel system is clean and doesn't "leak down" after sitting. New hoses, new belts, rebuilt original carb, new voltage regulator, Tune up, new exhaust, etc.. The clutch works great and the tranny shifts smooth and feels tight and new. The steering is tight and doesn't wander all over. This truck drives nice. It doesn't go super fast because of the low gears, but it cruises very nice on back hi-ways and rural roads. The tires are all pretty good and don't leak. They have some age checking but are serviceable and have good tread. FLATBED DUMP: The wood in the 8' flatbed is in very good condition (probably because it was stored inside). The sides can be removed if you prefer a regular flatbed. The dump works great and is very handy for moving soil, leaves, rocks, firewood, grain, etc. The rear grain gate and grain funnel are complete and functional. If for some reason you don't want the dump, I can remove it for you. This truck is the perfect size. It drives and maneuvers like a regular pickup, but has real big-truck work capability with the dump. It does NOT drive like a worn out 1-1/2 ton giant farm truck. It is very pleasant and quiet. At car shows you can put the dump up and I guarantee a crowd will gather. Something the "little" half-ton guys can't do. A deposit of 5% is due within 24 hours of the sale. The full balance is due within 5 days. I will not accept a payment "plan". I prefer bank transfer or guaranteed check/money order from a place like Wells-Fargo or the Postal Service. Please contact me after the sale to arrange payment and shipping. The truck can stay on the ranch for a bit (within reason) while you arrange shipping or come to pick it up. This truck has a clear title and is currently registered in the State of Montana. Just the other day my pickup had a flat tire and I drove the kids to school in it. You will love this truck.
