Up for action is this clean, VERY LOW mileage, great running and driving 1978 300D. Autobahn Auto is selling this 300D for the customer. He wasn't using the car anymore so he brought me the car and title and asked me to sell it for him. We serviced this Benz for the last two years. Wasn't much but we changed oil and filter, fuel filters and adjusted the valves. T my surprise the AC is actually cooling and the heater works fine too. 1977 through early 1981 Mercedes used the worst climate system possible for North America. All models except the 240D's used this heater-servo system. The heater servo is located behind the passenger headlight and it neither leaks nor is it stuck. Works fine. This 300D starts right up and drives great. The transmission shifts very well too. Though, after carefully inspecting this Benz we found some issues. The sunroof is NOT working (we hear the sunroof motor.) The passenger front window is also NOT working. The window motor works but the regulator is broke. Usually missing teeth on the regulator. The rear roof panels are lose (see photo.) There is a damage to the left front fender (see photo.) There is also some moisture in the trunk. This is very common for the W123 body style. Upon arrival at my Mercedes shop both trunk train plugs were cleaned. There are a few rust spots as you can see in the photos, however we did not find any rust holes in the floors or trunk area, or anywhere else on the car. The good news are, the horsehair seats are in extremely good shape. No flaking of any kind and none of the seats have cracks. This 300D is certainly a daily driver and there is a lot of life left. Enthusiast love these models and I have personally sold many of them via ebay. Most of my car auctions end with a sale before the actual auction ends. So I encourage you don't let this get away by waiting for the auction end. I will not refuse a reasonable offer!! Don't asked me what the reserve is unless the auction is nearing the end. Some potential buyers ask me within hours of the listings what my reserve is. Don't ask cause in most auctions I adjust the reserve in the last two days of auction anyways. If you like to make me an offer, please do so anytime. This 300D comes without warranty, the car is sold as is where is. If you like to fly in and drive her home, that's fine and I am more than willing to pick you up from the airport.
