In the early 1990’s this A did receive a Father/Son restoration. Since that point in time, it has been barn stored and used only for parades and special occasions. It does retain ALL of it’s ORIGINAL Metal…ORIGINAL Glass…and ORIGINAL Trim work! The interior has been updated at some point in time, and although it’s not perfect, it still shows very well! We recently sent this A out to local shop that is “GO TO PLACE” for these early 1900’s Fords. They did a fresh service including replacing the water pump and doing some replacement on the brake system. Since being serviced, we personally have driven the car around town and out on the highway…it performs great! Now…everybody has vision for these true STEEL BODY A’s when they buy them…some keep them original…some go completely crazy! Heavy patina on grille and head lights. Paint bubbles on passenger fender. Both front and rear bumpers show patina – typical for original parts. Small tare on front side of driver’s seat. Missing glass on driver’s exterior mirror. Car was recently inspected and serviced by a Model-A expert in our area! In 1974 Bob Thiel left Thiel Motor Sales and teaching to become a partner in what is today Burnette-Thiel Ford. John along with his Father Jim and Mother Mary stayed at Thiel Motors to serve the DeWitt area. In 1992 Mary passed away after a bout with cancer. After her death, Jim decided to retire from the business and turn it over to his son John. John then retired from Teaching and went into the business full time. In 1997 John's son Jim came to work for the family business. John's other son Jon Jr. Came to work for the business in 2001. In 2001 Thiel Motors had grown so rapidly that they opened a second location in Clinton Iowa.
