This car emerged recently after being garaged without moving for 45 years, so this is indeed a "barn find". There are probably only 300 Singer Roadsters still around after this small British car manufacturer produces around 800 cars in this series (4AD Roadsters, 1497 cc.) from 1951 to 1954, when the company was bought by Rootes Group (makers of subsequent cars like Hillman and Sunbeam). Right hand drive cars like this one are very rare in this series, and was likely exported to the British West Indies or sold for the home market in Great Britain in 1952. There is a clear title for this car from the deceased original owner's estate executor. This car needs a complete restoration and is tatty but complete, including tools. One sidelamp is unaccounted for, but everything else is there. Original tires are dryrotted but holding air. These cars had aluminum bodes over an ash wood frame, and the wood is very good on this car with the exception of the piece under the rear trung lid that the hinges screw into. That piece would be fairly easy to make. This car is well preserved and 100 per cent original, probably due to being stored inside a garage for all that time. There is oxidation on the steel bonnet and front and rear fenders, but the rust is superficial and will sand off easily. Some splits in the aluminum around the trunk lid can be easily repaired with aluminum brazing that an amateur could use (kit will be given to new owner with flux and aluminum rod). Rear brakes appear to be new. Hydraulics need rebuild, and condition of engine is unknown. Grill needs to have replacement slats fabricated and needs replating, as does most of the other chrome. Headlamps have their original Lucas sealed beam lenses, probably the originals. Mileage showing on odometer is 26,137 and this may well be original.
