Vehicle Detail

VERY rare 1965 Mustang for Sale The “T-5” model mustang is also commonly referred to as “the horse with no name”. In 1965, as a result of the unexpected demand of the Mustang, Ford decided to expand its production to Europe in order to give US troops stationed in Germany the opportunity to purchase the popular muscle car. Ford came to find that a trucking company in Germany already owned the trade name and was not willing to give it up. As a result, in order to sell Mustangs in Germany, Ford had to strip the name off the car all together. They replaced the name with the prototype name of the vehicle “T-5”. There are some websites devoted to telling the history of the T-5 (http://www.ponysite.de/fmcog/t5/t5-2.htm), based on those websites; it appears that there are about 100 to 200 1965 models known to be in existence. This is a truly exceptional find for a mustang enthusiast. I purchased this car around 2000 and restored it over a three year period; the restoration was done with aftermarket parts. I love the car and am selling it because unfortunately life has seemed to get in the way and I want the car to be enjoyed rather than sit in my garage! The Car shows about 50,000 miles but I have no idea about its driving history prior to mine. Over the last 10 years I have driven it around 15 to 20,000 miles. The first five years it was used as an every day car, it has been used as a weekend car since then. With that in mind I want to be very candid about the cars condition, things that can be done and things that have been done thus far, I want the buyer to have as much info as possible…the information I have is based on my ownership, and the best to my knowledge. I have no prior history on the car. Current Condition and Renovations 1. Body-excellent condition, replaced three quarter panels with aftermarket parts. ALL body work was done by professionals. 2. There is NO power steering or AC. 3. Painted about 7 years ago, several small scratches and chips, if I were a buyer I would touch up or repaint. The color is forest green, the original color of the car as brown. 4. VERY little rust or body repair needed. Only superficial, I saw two or three rust bubbles about the size of the tip of a finger, easy fixes. The car has been garage kept during my entire ownership 5. I replaced the rear frame and entire floor during the restoration with aftermarket parts. These are in excellent condition. 6. The engine is a straight 6, the power train in general has always ran very well, never had a problem with any of it. I never did a full engine rebuild but have done deep tune ups. I have no knowledge of any problems from a mechanical perspective…straight 6’s are really unbelievably reliable. 7. I replaced the carpet with an aftermarket carpet. 8. The stock radio did not work, so I added a modern radio under the dash as well as modern high quality speakers. 9. Replaced entire muffler and exhaust system. 10. Over the years I have replaced and maintained all the other little things you can think of (shocks, batter, starter, shock towers, bearings, breaks, etc. etc.) Things that can be done by the buyer… 1. If I were a buyer, I would consider detailing the engine, really the only area that could use significant TLC from a visual perspective. Of course this is really just preference. 2. The tires have good threads but a few have some dry rot…I would consider replacing 3. The interior could be detailed, that would really make it pop. 4. If you know mustangs at all, you know that in 1965 there was an engineering defect that allowed water to occasionally leak into the passenger side of the cabin by your feet. This happened once recently when I got caught in the rain, caused some slight discoloration in the carpet. Probably fixable with a good detailing, but I would consider replacing.5. There is some heavy rust at the tip of the front driver side frame rail (picture included). I had two different body guys look at this on separate occasions when I was having work done. Both felt that it was not an issue and not necessary to repair...that said, somthing to be aware of.6. I recently noted a very slow leak of transmittion fluid. I have not looked into this, it has had no impact on the quality of the drive...which remains good. I have not gotten around to fixing it. Really hoping to find a good home for the car, someone who will take good care of it and enjoy it as much as I have! Happy to answer any questions you might have. Of course, I am selling this car AS IS and make no representations or warrentee's.
