Vehicle Detail
This is my 1996 Z28. V-8, RWD, 6-speed, T-tops, Black on grey interior,all-power, 285hp, 325tq, still fast and running great. Just put $2000 into it. NEW Fuel Pump(ac delco), new tires(nexen cp 641), new fuel pressure regulator(ac delco), new fuel filter(ac d), new starter(ac d), new alternator(reman. ac d), new battery(autozone duralast 4 yr. warrenty left), new drivers window regulator and door switches (GM OE), new valve cover gaskets(both valve covers were cleaned, car has no leaks). ALL this has been done in the last 6 months, the tires have less than 1000 miles on them(40,000 m tires). I replaced the waterpump(valuecraft), and thermostat about a year ago. The car has 170,000 miles on it, but runs great. I bought it in 2004 and believe i'm the third owner. i smoke but rarely in the car. This car is completely stock ready to be built or driven as it is. I've been fixing minor problems for the last year as stated above, but in my opinion the car still needs a little TLC to be totally perfect, which i will now list every problem with the car that i can.(exterior) The hood and front bumper both need to be painted, the hood has horrible sun fading, and the fr bumper is chipping allover badly. I was thinking of wrapping them in glossy black vinyl car wrap as a cheap alternative. The rest of the body looks fairly good for a car with 170,000 and 17 years under its belt. There are a few dings here and there but the car has no rust, (i'll take pics). (interior) The inside of the car is where the majority of the work still needs to be done. The factory cd player works but scratches cds, i just use an ipod, the factory bose speakers still sound awesome. The heater only blows mild heat, my mechanic thinks its something simple but i didn't have him look into it yet. The cruise control/turn signal/brights/wipers arm need to be replaced, this is one piece that is around $100 new, only the cruise is not working so it may just be a fuse. The hinge on the arm rest is broke, but it doesn't move. AC was just charged and blows cold. The seats and carpet are all in good condition. The T-tops are awesome, no leaks on them, the service engine light and radiator fluid light stay on because of a sensor that has gone bad on the bottom of the radiator($35). (under the hood) There are two hoses that need to be replaced, one runs from the throttle body to the left valve cover, the other is a vacuum line i believe(i'll take pics) Plugs and wires (new ac delco about $250w labor, if you cant find cheaper then you need my mechanic). The car has problems in rain, something is getting wet and causing it to act funny, i havn't had it looked into. This car runs differently than all others in one way, and because of this the service engine light may never shut off. Shortly after i bought the car I had some temp problems so my dad let his mechanic who supposedly builds racecars look at it. He rewired the fans to turn on automatically through the ignition, so instead of your motor getting hot and your thermostat telling your fans to turn on, they run as soon as you turn the key. I went to Chevrolet and had them do a diagnostic test to try to turn off the service engine light but the test couldn't finish. This was because that guy rewired the fans. They told me it would cost alot for them to rewire it back again to finish the test so i just lived with it. In my opinion it works well to cool the motor, but robs you of some battery power. With all that said, this is my second baby. I've always changed the oil religiously, using high milage from 120000 up to now, just changed oil too. Had the clutch changed at 125,000, rotors and pads last year, just changed radiator fluid. The car is worth about $5,500 so the bank tells me. The parts and labor it still needs including paint are around $1000. I'm starting bidding at $4500.00 with no reserve so please only serious buyers. I trust this car will drive anywhere once you get it, or we could discuss shipping. Good luck and happy bidding to all.
