1970 BMW 2002 Coupe This is a rare chance to own a 1- owner 1970 2002 Coupe. The car was purchased by a professor from northern Idaho and kept as his pride and joy for his entire life. We have procured this BMW through a customer that got it from his estate. You will not believe the amount of documentation, spare parts and upgrades that come with this car. After the professor passed away, the car sat in indoor storage for a number of years, until being discovered by one of our regular customers. The engine had low compression, so a motor with an mild camshaft was built for the car. The original motor comes with the car, disassembled. It was later discovered that the low compression was from stuck rings from sitting, and is in overall good condition. We photographed these extra parts, please see below. The engine in it now runs very strong and smooth. It has a Weber Redline kit on it and brand new exhaust with header. Again please see the underside photos of this BMW. The suspension was fully upgraded with IE Spring and Sway-bar kit. Along with Bilstein “sport” shocks and struts. This is all brand new. Period correct Cosmic Mag wheels were installed to really give this 2002 a great look. A total of $7000 was spent on this car in June of 2012. A full alignment and Dyno test was done at this time, these records come with the car. The original window sticker/purchase order comes with the car along with all original manuals. It was originally purchased at Hoffman BMW in Los Angeles for a total price of $3883.50 with options. The options were: Skai leatherette, bumperettes, power brakes, exhaust tip, reclining seats, tach instead of clock, torsion bar stabilizers, radial tires, tinted glass, and radio. It is very rare and hard to find a car of any make that has this much history with it, let alone the spare parts that come with the car. If you are the winning bidder, you will need to arrange shipping of all the parts, because there are more than will fit in the car. These parts alone are worth thousands to the right BMW collector. This Coupe was repainted a similar hue to the original blue in 2001. It has a great shine to it, and although not show quality, will be good for many years. This car can be enjoyed as is, or if you are looking for a great candidate to restore, this is an excellent starting point. With only very small amount of rust compared to almost any of these we have seen in recent years. All of the chassis, shock mounting points and suspension are free from rust. The only real rust issues are in the lower front fenders and and the lower rear rockers. Doors, window areas, trunk, and under hood are in great shape. All the glass, grill and bright work are in good shape. This is a true classic that will only go up in value with time. Most of our auctions do not go for the entire listing time.
