Vehicle Detail
'75 Porsche 911S Targa, purchased 2 years ago from a collection of 5 cars. The gentleman needed more room in his garage for conducting restoration on his more valuable cars. I bought this one. It's a great driver with only 82k miles. Since owning I have replaced the exhaust - stock Dansk- and had the major service done by one of the premier Porsche shops in town, Stuttgart Specialists. The air conditioning works, the car drives well, with a small amount of inherent CIS injection stutters. The body is free of any bad rust, a few bubbles here and there under the paint. Truly a solid car deserving a complete restoration. Motor will smoke at start up for a second or two if left sitting for more than a week or more. Mechanic says this is probably due to the check valve at the oil tank leaking back into the crankcase and puddeling in the cylinders. It likes to mark its territory with a oil leak that is common for an air cooled car of this age. I've found this to be a nusance at most, sometimes smelling oil burning off the exhaust. The interior is all origional, the carpets good but faded, some wear on the drivers seat, and a dash cover. All instruments work but the clock. The car turns heads everywhere and still looks good up close. Having cought the Porsche bug, I'm wanting to buy a 996 or 997 so this toy needs to find a new home with hopefully someone who will invest the time and money to nudge this car back into showroom condition. I have the service records since I've owned the car, and have a few from previous owners. It has only been cought in the rain once since I've owned it and has been kept under a cover in my garage always.
