Vehicle Detail
Classic 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 2.8L 2-Door Coupe Vehicle was purchased at auction in November 1998. Since then it has been driven very infrequently and has spent most of its time in storage. Odometer reads 13170 miles, assumed to be 113170 (actual miles unknown). Speedometer is currently inoperable. Mechanically this vehicle is in good shape – starts and runs well. Over $3500 in service and repairs recently completed. Extensive brake work completed in 1999 (approximately 5k miles on new brakes). See Service and Repair History below for details. Body is in good condition. Only known rust is located in the driver’s side trunk well. Vehicle was repainted by previous owner. Paint in good condition, some minor rust bubbles can be seen under paint. Driver’s side front fender, hood and front windshield were damaged in a non-auto related accident in 2005. Body work and painting repairs completed, paint match was poor. Front windshield was replaced with new. Chrome parts are in good condition, some minor pitting evident. Interior is in poor condition; carpets were recently removed due to a strong mildew smell (slight odor still remains), dash board in poor condition. Vinyl seats and door panels are in good condition, some tears noted. Passenger side front and driver’s side rear electric window are inoperable. Other two electric windows work. Sunroof is inoperable. The title is currently in a transfer status and, according to the Washington State Dept. of Licensing, will take 3 to 4 weeks to complete, much longer than I had anticipated. I wanted everyone to be aware that the successful bidder will need to wait somewhere in that timeframe to receive the physical paper title. I am happy to answer any questions regarding this situation.
