1965 Mercury Comet Caliente Convertible Fresh Ice Blue Metallic pristine paint with amazing two-tone blue interior Up for auction today is an matching numbers Mercury Comet Convertible, that is in stunning condition. We recently got this Mercury in on trade on a late model Ferrari here at Speedsports. When I heard about his car I was excited to see it, but I was blown away after it came in on trade. The prior owners had definitely loved and cared for this Merc. Not only is it tastefully upgraded but it drives better than the day it came off the showroom floor. Everything works on it, including the full power top that looks as good as the rest of the car. Obviously the prior owner wanted a little more zoom out of the original 289 ci Ford motor. It was bored 30 over and a mild cam with roller rockers just installed about 3000 miles ago. The engine was dressed up with the right chrome pieces. For more reliability and performance a MSD ignition was installed. The exhaust system is a dual 2 1/2 complete system that has the perfect rumble to it. The automatic C4 three speed transmission shifts smooth and properly going through the gears. New three row radiator was installed with flex fan that keeps the engine running cool. Another great upgrade is the front disc brakes and dual master cylinder were added to make this a safe driver. Gas KYB shocks round out the tight suspension system. The car rides on new Centerline racing wheels that give take the look from Grandma's church car to a Saturday night cruiser. Brand new BFG 235/60/15 rear and 205/60/15 fronts. The body is straight and fully cut and polished. You can tell this was a high end paint job from it shine. It does not have any rust issues, you can see from the underside picture how clean and well preserved this Mercury is. The prior owner has installed the factory optioned AC dash system and is complete except for the compressor and hooking up. All the dash chrome has been re-done, as well with the wood trim pieces. Deluxe interior seat belts and sport rear seats make this car more desirable. A hidden stereo system "Secretaudio" was installed in the glove box to have a more modern stereo system.
