1968 Mercury Cougar Sport Coupe. Extremely nice unmolested car with documented Southern California one family ownership for over 44 years. It is still currently registered with the original black California license plates and the original selling dealer license plate frame on the front. Sold new at Roche's Cougar, Lincoln Mercury dealership in North Hollywood, CA. Factory options include "Whisperaire" A/C, power disc brakes, power steering, 302 V-8, three speed "C-4 Merc-O-Matic" automatic transmission, 3.00-1 differential ratio for highway driving, full console, decor group, tinted glass, remote left hand mirror, front and rear bumper guards. The car is straight with excellent paint, interior, glass and chrome. Always mechanically maintained and driven. To show the care that this Cougar has received over the years, the engine has the original paint and other than wiping off, has not been detailed. Likewise, the under side has not been detailed so nothing is hidden or covered-up. It is "turn-key" and ready to drive and show. Miscellaneous Details: The Cougar has had one good quality exterior repaint of the original "Lime Frost" color in the year 2000. As a garage kept car the paint still looks great. There are very few tiny chips, also a small scratch near the trunk lock. These have been mostly touched-up and not noticeable unless you are searching for them and too small to show in the photos. The interior is all mostly all original and exceptionally nice overall. Only the bucket seat covers have been replaced with factory reproductions in October 2007 at an installed price of $1005. The front suspension has been rebuilt and all four shock absorbers replaced with ones from KYB ($851). The original radio was removed, preserved and boxed. It was replaced with a direct fit replacement from West Coast Classic Cougar. It is AM/FM stereo with an IPOD and mp3 jack on the face. A new dual cone stereo speaker was installed in the factory dash location. Nothing was cut and no additional speakers added anywhere. The brake system, including parking brake works perfectly, stops straight and smoothly. Rear drums, lining and cylinders appear near new. All safety items, lighting, 4-way flashers, horn, wipers, locks and seat belts (including shoulder harnesses) are operable. The speedometer was calibrated (70 is actual 68 MPH). Tires are “Tiger Paw” radials by Uniroyal in excellent condition. Car has not been smoked in with ash trays and lighter appearing unused. Buyer must have a clean bid history or call first. Deposit of $1000 must be received (wire transfer or cash in person). Balance due within 14 days. For balance, I will accept wire transfer, cash in person or Cashier's check (which must clear prior to cars release). Costs for transporting or shipping will be the buyers responsibility. Upon completion of sale, I will deliver a clear, signed off California title in my name, current registration, original owner plastic warranty card, warranty book, owner manual (with hand typewritten info filled in by selling dealership), old registration certificates, all receipts, extra keys and a “Marti” report showing the Cougar’s factory build information. Also included with sale will be the original radio, a shop manual and some new parts. I feel the reserve is low enough to make this affordable to someone that appreciates a truly nice Cougar.
