Vehicle Detail

This is my baby. Really upset to see it go, but it is time.I have completely overhauled this 1965 International Scout 80.It's a tank with the old school fold down windshield.http://www.flickr.com/photos/scout80/sets/72157631662726965/show/There is little left unturned.Motor has been worked on, New HiTorque starter, wiring, plugs, tires, paint, gauges, gas tanks, you name it it's NEW.Headers were installed for a little more power with a brand new exhaust system.New fittings, gaskets, everything.EVERYTHING has been worked on or gone through with a fine tooth comb. The truck is equipped with a whole vehicle power cutoff as well as a kill switch to keep those with slippery hands away. The whole scout was re-wired with a weatherproof Painless wiring harness and has Autometer Gauges, All of the lights are new as well as the buckets and fittings. This is only a very partial list of parts:Front Axle Seal Kit. Here are a few answers to some questions that some people had: Q: The Scout looks great, can you tell me what or if any major problems the vehicle has?Oct-16-12A: This is close to becoming a daily driver but there are little projects that need to be completed before it can get there. All the major issues have been gone through but there are some little things that I would work on before taking it on the road every day. The truck fires up and drives fine, but if you're going to use it every day I would recommend the following: Testing the dual fuel tank setup throughly including inspecting the fuel senders and install fuel selector switch. Fully testing the alternator, etc. Calibrating the speedometer ( I would suggest using the autometer GPS enabled) speedo unit so that you don't have to worry about being off at all. Might want to change the pitman arm and drag link to the newer style tie-rod type joint if you're planning on running it offroad. Overall, the truck is in exceptional and straight shape for a vehicle of its age. It's close to being fully restored, however it has a little (very little) left to do in order to make it FULLY DAILY DRIVER RELIABLE. The big things: The wiring harness is completely new, The motor, transmission, and etc. have been completely redone/looked through painted and re-installed with new motor mounts. Whole body seam sealed and painted. New(er) tires, brake lines (including parking brakes), fuel sender, ignition points, starter, etc. Let me know if you have any other questions.Q: Very Cool Truck. Do yo you have doors or a hard top for it? thanks, LeeOct-15-12A: I do not have the doors or a top. I was about to build some tube doors and LineX them black to finish the look, but we're buying a house so the toys have to go (for now). The bikini top on there is all I have. It's hot here in Texas.Q: Will factory doors fit the Scout? Will an factory hard top fit the Scout? Does it have and Airconditioner? If it does not have an Airconditioner can an unit be fitted to the Scout?Oct-15-12A: Factory doors will definitely fit the Scout. Factory Hard top should fit, however I never have tried. The truck does not have an air conditioner. I believe there are early bronco air conditioners that can be easily retrofitted. Just an FYI, older vehicles such as a scout should be thoroughly gone through if you're going to enclose the cab, because any improper seals from the firewall to the cab could cause exhaust to leak into the cab. Thanks, OwenOct-13-12A: I shot the entire exterior with a LineX type material mixed with a gunmetal grey metallic. It looks very clean yet at the same time it is very functional. I wanted something that would wear well with the look of the vehicle. It can take scratches and nicks without worry. The tires are BFG All Terrain 31.5x11.5R15's practically new. You can get a lift for these trucks. The lift usually combines Jeep CJ Lift Springs that are beefed up to hold the weight of the Scout. There's a few companies that I would recommend. http://www.ihonlynorth.com/forums/new-products-ih-only/7951-cpt-scout-80-800-suspension-system.html or http://www.backcountrybinders.com/suspension/lift-kits/scout-80-800-lift-spring-kit.html I was about to build some tube doors and LineX them black to finish the look, but we're buying a house so the toys have to go (for now).
