Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a beautiful 1979 Honda CBX Six-Cylinder vintage hot rod. I am going to start with the bad which accounts for the accordingly reasonable price but make no mistake, this is an excellent deal, all things considered. The second plug hole in from the left end cylinder is stripped and will need an insert or a helicoil type repair. The prior owner had stripped the plug and an inexpensive, loctite form-a-thread repair was made. The bike started, ran very smooth, was very fast (I have had several CBXs), shifts perfect, has a great clutch but alas, the plug repair did not hold. The front fender will need to be replaced, and it needs turn-signals. Other than that, it has a new sealed battery, the carbs were totally rebuilt by Old School Carbs. The paint is all original and very nice. The side panels are excellent. The original seat is in exceptional shape. The tachometer, speedometer, hi/lo beams, taillight, brake lights, gauges, switches, and controls all work as they should. The wiring for the turn signals is intact and get power. Take a look at the pictures. This bike is very, very clean, with 19574 original miles. The grips are original. The bike was well taken care of and garaged it's whole life. It came with a DG six into one performance pipe. I do have a Honda service manual and the turn signal stalks for the rear signals. All it needs to be a daily driver is turn signals (depending on your state of residence, as some states don't require them), a new front fender as the front of the fender has the leading edge worn away and the area where the rubber plug on the left side goes is damaged, and the spark plug hole repair. This bike is easily worth $7-8 grand if the repairs are made. I am selling this bike to complete a really cool CB400F project. Otherwise, I would not be selling it as these bikes will only continue to increase in value.I have a clean Utah Certificate of Title and Utah Bill of Sale, signed by the executor of the last owners estate. Thank you for your interest and good luck bidding! Feel free to send me an email or call me at (801) 722-9380 with any questions. Thanks! LonnieOn Oct-13-12 at 21:16:21 PDT, seller added the following information: *Please see the comments from another avid CBX owner in regards to the European Sports Kit, which this bike has. The kit included a lower more aggressive handlebar position, the switches and cables to match, and higher, more sporting rear set peg, shifter, and brake position. This eliminated the bolt upright seating position of the US version and gives the bike more ground clearance. These kits are rare, desirable, and pretty expensive.
