Vehicle Detail

Offered here is a RARE 1957 Triumph TR3, with factory OVERDRIVE, found sitting in a dry basement in a small East TN town since the 80’s. The older gent who owned the car has been in poor health and had to move, so the car became available. It was running when parked because of a brake issue, so shouldn’t take much to get it going again. I have not tried to start it. The pictures will show that this is an unusually solid example, with very little rust if any in panels, and no rust in the chassis/frame. It will need a full restoration, or could be driven as is. Looks to have had some filler put in the front from an accident, and the original floors although intact will need some metal patches. Battery box bottom needs replacing. Inner rockers and everything structural look very solid. See photos of trunk and spare tire area—not rusty. Good glass, sidecurtains present, old top and tonneau cover come with it. Original and rare TUDOR washer bottle is there! That and the rare period chrome Triumph accessory shift knob might be worth a good bit themselves! Only a very few early small mouth TR 3’s left in the world that are factory overdrive models as indicated by the “O” at the end of the VIN plate. Nice old painted factory wheels with original hubcaps featuring the original enamel centers. And, the old bias belted tires are something you don’t see much anymore! I was going to restore her, but found an MGTD that I plan on doing instead. Won’t see another one like it for the price, so grab it for your winter project and be ready for spring shows and driving! The car is being sold in its as is condition with no warranties or refunds, and I welcome all to ask questions and come view the car to determine if it is what you want and expect. Bring your trailer! I will assist with shipping arrangements and loading, but shipping is the buyer’s responsibility. Overseas buyers OK as long as the car is paid for within 10 days and picked up within 3 weeks of auction end, otherwise the car will be put back on ebay and no refunds will be made. A $1000 deposit by wire transfer or paypal is required within 24 hours of auction end, and your bid is confirmation of this commitment to pay. Clear title is in former owner's name and will be conveyed with seller's signature. I will provide a bill of sale for our record of sale. I reserve the right to cancel this auction if the vehicle becomes unavailable for sale or is sold prior to end of auction, although I do not have it advertised locally. Thanks and good luck! On Oct-17-12 at 20:53:45 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that I do have the original crank handle that was designed to be used to insert through the grill opening into the front of the engine for starting purposes. Have not tried that!
