Vehicle Detail

Due to an upcoming move overseas, I am selling my beloved Benz. I've never sold a car on Ebay before, so feel free to ask questions if I leave out any important information. From the file full of receipts I have for service records on this car, I surmise that I am the 4th owner. The car is in 99% original condition. Original paint, interior, original low miles, the works. As you can tell from the pictures, it is in outstanding condition and must have been garaged its entire 36 years. I have owned it for over 3 years, and it resides in MY garage. I drive it once a week on a grocery circuit around town, and now and then to the golf course and local wineries. Such a beautiful and solid and elegant machine! It turns heads wherever I go. What I've done or had done: New Toyo tires, new Alpine stereo and speakers, rebuilt radiator, new hoses and belts, new cool air intake tube, new trunk seal, new heat-shield hood pad and rubber hood bumpers, new battery, new transmission fluid, new air filter, new rear sway bar links. The car loves the highway! It's not quick to pick up speed, but has no trouble cruising at 80+ mph. It corners like a dream, hugging the road and welcoming curves. Included with the car are the original and complete set of shop manuals, both for engine and body. I'm told these alone are worth over $400. It also has its original Owner's Guide. It is truly shocking how many things still work on this remarkable car: electrically controlled sunroof, heater, low-on-fuel light, key buzzer, windshield wipers and cleaner fluid pump, and the list goes on. Even the clock works! A few things don't work, like the fog lights and the Becker Mexico radio, but I haven't tried to find out why. There is one operational quirk that I'll try to describe: when you reduce speed, like when you exit the freeway and approach a signal and come to a stop, usually the car doesn't downshift. At that point, all you do is manually shift the lever from Drive to Low. That does the trick, and off you go. I talked to a Mercedes guy about this, and he told me that there's a set of flat, bar-shaped shifting links under the air-cleaner that are adjustable. He told me I could make minor changes to those and fix the problem. The shop manuals of course show this linkage arrangement in great detail. I'm not a mechanically adept person, though, and the issue doesn't bother me in the slightest, so I left well-enough alone. Please examine the pictures and feel free to ask questions. I have tried to photograph the minor flaws: tiny chips in paint, one thumbnail-sized rust bubble, etc. I have also tried to give a sense of this car's visual beauty, but I'm no photographer! On Oct-13-12 at 07:32:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked me as part of their questions whether the engine and tranny have any leaks, and I forgot to answer that part. The engine has slight seeps here and there that result in a few drips on the garage floor over the course of weeks, typical for a 36 year old vehicle. It's not enough to require adding oil to compensate, though. I've never had to add oil between changes. I asked my mechanic about replacing whatever seals were seeping and he laughed. "Don't bother!" I also forgot to mention that the roof liner is in immaculate condition, and that the windows and doors seal beautifully: no whistling or leaking. this car is incredibly well-preserved and is only a few short steps to show quality! On Oct-14-12 at 15:30:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked for a picture of the entire console. Hopefully this link works: photoexb.jpg
