Vehicle Detail

Very stock, very original, very well-maintained, very well-preserved 1987 Suzuki Samurai Hardtop previously owned for 24 years by a fastidious original owner. This JA was bought new on August 5, 1987 at Rick Warner Suzuki in Salt Lake City, UT with 16 miles on the odometer. This info can be verified by the Suzuki Servicard which comes with the vehicle (see pics). The original owner moved to Circleville in Southern Utah where it was used until purchased by it's current elderly owner (a major Samurai fanatic) late last year. He has owned 35-40 Samurai's over the last 26 years (I told you he was a fanatic) and only buys the best. This is one of them. His wife has cancer so his toys have to go. Mechanically, this Samurai is superb. It runs and drives great and is very comfortable at freeway speeds. There are no rattles, clunks, etc. of any kind. It is very tight. We are currently getting north of 30MPG on the highway. All the fluids are clean and fresh. The only engine upgrades from stock are a Weber carburetor and a new muffler (see pics). The four-wheel-drive system works perfectly. The suspension was upgraded years ago with an all bolt-on CalMini Products 2" lift kit. I think it gives this SUV a nice stance (not too high, not too low). The interior is in very good shape as well. It has wear and tear typical of a 25 year old utility vehicle but nothing major. The headliner is all there with some staining but only a few cuts. Cargo area floor has some scratching from hauling stuff but is otherwise fine. All glass is good and windows operate properly. Door panels have typical and easily repairable tears in the vinyl. All three doors close very solidly with no rattling. Floorboards are excellent and carpet is great on passenger side but worn on drivers side. Same goes for the seats; it looks like the passenger seat was rarely used. Dash is excellent with no cutting or butchery of any kind. Stereo is a period correct Aiwa unit with speakers in the kick panels and in the rear. Everything works inside except for the horn and cigarette lighter. The windshield washer still works! Exterior is completely, totally, and thoroughly original down to the paint. The only thing not stock is a bolt-on trailer hitch. The body has minor flaws that come through normal use and are visible in the pics. All areas where paint has been scratched off have been coated with a metal preservative. I recommend leaving it as is so as to maintain originality. All sheet metal underneath is solid. The rear fenderwells have some minor rust-through. Something moist must have gotten stuck between the plastic fender flare and the metal flare extension underneath on the drivers side. It has been coated with metal preservative for containment. You can't see it unless you get down and look up from the underside and it won't get any worse. This really is a wonderfully well-preserved 1987 Suzuki Samurai. They are getting much harder to find in such great condition. And that especially goes for the Hardtop as less were built in the first place. It even comes with the original window sticker and all manuals (see pics). Speaking of pics, I have many additional ones I'd be happy to provide. Please send me a non-Ebay email address and I will get them to you. My name is Chris and I'm available to answer any questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. The vehicle is located in the dry, desert community of St. George, UT (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas). You may want to fly in and drive it home. I would be happy to facilitate that. Thank you very much for your interest. On Oct-12-12 at 12:05:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve has just been set to $4750. The few relevant comps in Ebay Completed Listings indicate this price is on the lower end of the range for tintops in this condition. Good luck and good bidding. On Oct-13-12 at 23:29:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve has once again been lowered. It is now set at $4500.On Oct-14-12 at 18:47:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve is now set at $4000. It definitely WILL NOT go any lower. I think it's worth a lot more based on Ebay Completed Listing comps for great, original tintops. Thanks again for your interest.
