Vehicle Detail

1972 Chevy Monte CarloProject car needing someone to love it (again) This has been sitting in our garage for the past 10 years. I had hopes my daughters would want to work together on this. The oldest is turing 16 and has no interest. My dreams of restoring this to earlier glory are vanished and I need to sell it. A very clear summary:This has been sitting a long time and is quite rough. It will need significant attention. I am selling as is. History and current condition:I purchased this in 1984. I rebuilt the engine in 1986 and had it repainted (original gold/brown). The last time it was driven reliably was 2001 and has sat in either a barn or garage since. Two weeks ago I committed to selling it. I replaced the battery, poured some gas down the carburator and fired it up. It roared. You just can't kill these old Chevys. - Paint has scratches and blemishes and there are a lot of new dents. Stuff probably dropped on the car over the years. - Driver seat has a cut. Ceiling liner has a few holes which appear to be animal related. Obviously the carpet is bad and it smells musty.- Front disc brakes seem to work. I was able to bleed both front brakes. But the rear drum brakes do not appear to work. I broke off the rear bleeders trying to bleed them. Probably both rear cylinders need to be replaced. Without good brakes it is not drivable. I wanted to have this drivable for sale but just don't have enough energy or time.- I did drive it around the block but that wasn't a safe choice with the lack of brakes.- When starting, sometimes the starter clicks a few times before turning over, but it turns over easy and roars to life. Good grief I remember this as really powerful.- The right rear quarter has some rust around the wheel well. There is rust starting on the trunk lid. Most of the other metal looks good.- Back when I rebuilt the engine, I replaced the cam with a higher lift, installed an aluminum Edelbrock manifold, Dual exhaust has headers, and installed a four barrel Holley carburator. The first three years of these Monte Carlo's (70-72) were the most beautiful years. I really want someone to enjoy this car and breath some life back into it. It has real potential. Due to the lack of brakes, buyer needs to pick it up on trailer. Write with more questions or requesting more pictures. I won't soften any of the realities.
