Vehicle Detail

I am the original private owner of this truck and I searched for three years before I found this mint condition M1008 CUCV truck which I purchased in January 2011. The vehicle was originally purchased by the Forest Service/Fire Department under the government contact for military trucks for the Army. When it was received it was all military camo, they immediately painted it fire engine red with a white top and had white side stripes put on. The interior and under the hood still have the original camo paint scheme. The truck was used for roadside brush fire service and was only used during the summers so it never saw the rain or the snow hence no rust and I believe no body work was ever done on it. The truck was garaged most of it's life and the fire department had a rigorous maintenance schedule for their service vehicles that required annual certification and servicing regardless of the miles driven, so this truck was fully serviced all the time, driven by adults and yes even waxed frequently. Current mileage is 33,259.4 Some of the unique accoutrements to a M1008 are the military brush bars, tow hooks front and rear, pintle hitch, dual M-16 rifle holders, rear window gun rack, and this truck also has a 2" receiver and both the military trailer plug and a 4-pin standard plug. These trucks are rated to tow 3,000 pound cross country, so it is very stout. The trucks has open Dana 60 front axles and in the rear 10.5" Corporate 14 Bolt Differential with No-Spin lockers (the commercial trade name for the Detroit Locker), 4:56 gears front and rear. The glow plugs have been converted to manual with a button on the dash, new radiator hoses and thermostat, stainless steel bed rail covers, headache rack and new rubber door molding. The interior has perfect black carpet with sound deading backing, perfect black seats, perfect factory dash, radio, lighter, additional fuse blocks. The truck is powered by GM’s 6.2L J-series Detroit Diesel V8 engine non-emissions diesel which has more horse power than the emissions diesel engine of the time. The transmission is a TH-400 automatic and the transfer case is chain drive NP-208. The truck had an on board water tank for the fire hose and they cut a 7 1/2" by 8 1/2" hole in the center of the bed as a drain for the water tank (see picture) as well as a few minor mounting holes for the tank, I was going to weld in a 7 1/2" by 8 1/2" patch piece from another truck bed to perfectly fit the hole but never got around to it; instead I called LMC Truck and got a small piece of light guage bed repair panel and put it over the hole and that is then under the heavy guage rubber liner the truck has (see pictures). The roof antenna and light bar holes have flush fit rubber plugs installed to seal the holes. Runs perfect, great brakes well cared for and all original.
