1984 AZTEC 7CUSTOM BUILT V8 AUTO BOXED FRAME As pictured, very rare custom build Aztec 7. Powered by a Chevy 350 V8 and automatic transmission. Custom built boxed frame, rear engine and transmission. Gullwing doors, flip back rear louvered hood. The info I gathered states only about 400 of these were built, and the vast majority on a VW chassis and VW drivetrain. The builder of this Aztec went to the extreme! Check out the pics and and look at all the quality build materials. Boxed frame, built V8, disc brakes all around, the list goes on and on. And yes, that is an Edelbrock SY1 "Smokey Ram" intake! Now, this Aztec has been in storage since 1997 and it's not road ready. I put a battery in it, poured some gas down the carb and it fired right up and sounded great! I am pretty sure the gas tank was emptied prior to storage so that should not be an issue, but the new owner will definitely want to go over the entire car before taking it out for a spin. I do know the brakes will need attention and the throttle is stiff, and you'll want to check the electrical, hey it's been in storage a long time. Tires look great, glass is great, interior still has a great 80's look to it but the wood inlay could use refinishing. One of the gull wing doors will need new gas struts to hold it open but the rest are fine. A peak inside the valve covers shows the internal engine looks like new. Paint is just OK, some of the chrome work is peeling, but it shouldn't take too much to turn this into a fun driver. This is a great chance to pick up a car with 10-15k potential for a mere fraction of its completed value. If something is important to you, please ask before you bid! I would certainly hope it goes higher. The gas tank was drained prior to storage and is bone dry. I ran the car for approximately 30 seconds yesterday at idle using an external tank. Sounded great. No doubt this is a high compression engine. I did not want to run it any longer before thoroughly checking and prepping the cooling system.
