Vehicle Detail
1963 Galaxie 2-door fastback. ('63 1/2) I have owned this car since 1992. It has been stored indoors since then, and never driven in snow or rain since I bought it. Gold with black interior. Bench seat (car was originally white with a blue interior) 390 engine with 4-speed top loader 3.64 posi 9" (not the original engine, car was originally a 390 with automatic) 64K original miles. 3 year old paint job in Ford Sunlit Gold. The quarter panels have been replaced (see picture pre- paint job) but other than that the car was very solid. The floors, trunk floor, doors, rocker panels are all nice, solid and original. Underside of the car is not rusty like a typical midwest car. just very light surface rust in places. top loader was rebuilt 15 years ago and has about 600 miles on it since then. Brakes are newer. Newer exhaust. Nice front and rear bumpers. wheelwells and engine bay painted black. 15" american racing torque thrust wheels. New carpet. New trunk seal, new window felts. All new bearings and seals in the rear end. Problems: Tires are older and should be replaced. Tail lights / brake lights and blinkers not working... wiring issue. The big problem... The brand new rebuilt 390 I just installed has a knock. It has about 3 miles on it. Motor has new pistons (.030 over), rings, rod and main bearings, timing chain, cam, valve springs and oil pump. Edelbrock performer intake and carb are older. Larger than stock cam should have headers, but currently stock manifold (log type) are on the engine. I was going to add a few more finishing touches after I got the engine installed ( tires, door seals, fix the problem with the lights) but have lost interest considering the engine problems... and I have another project I want to get started on. Aside from the engine problems, this is a very clean, solid car that would take very little work to get into nice cruising shape. I can try to get more pictures if there is something specific you want to see. Feel free to ask questions. I have room to store the car indoors for a while if transportation needs to be worked out. Local pickup is always welcome, shipping should be arranged by the buyer. On Sep-26-12 at 09:23:27 PDT, seller added the following information:I forgot to elaborate on the engine noise... It may be a rod knock, but to me it sounds like it is coming from higher up in the engine. I did dig into it a little. It does have oil pressure, but there is very little oil flow to the rockers. The noise does not appear to be consistent, it seems to change around as the its running.
