Vehicle Detail

Ok folks, here it is. This is my Stepfather's pride and joy. This is a true 1958 Impala 2 door hardtop. He has owned this for about the past 25 years and has restored it a little at a time over that time period. The car was stripped down to the frame and gone through. Any bad metal was cut out and replaced with new. The car was given a beautiful white lacquer paint job that will always hold a deep shine. The interior was all replaced with gray carpet, seats and headliner. Dash and rear window area was all redone and painted too. Most all of the weatherstripping was replaced and all glass is intact with the windows functioning as they should. The car has a 348 big block engine it that has been decked, balanced and blueprinted. The engine was bored .060 over. He has a 4 barrel intake and carb for that engine but currently has it set up for the 3- 2 barrel carbs. As many know, the 6 pack set up can be finicky and got gummed up from sitting. He anticipates having the carb assembly back together, tuned and functioning correctly for the new owner. He did put on an electronic ignition on the car and it has a 4 speed muncie tranny on the floor. The heater is not hooked up as this car has never seen a drop of rain since he owned it and has never been driven when heat was needed. There was no need for antifreeze to just sit in the heater core to cause deterioration. This car and engine has literally 10 or so miles on it since restored and it has only been driven down the paved country road and back to keep things rolling. The brakes and steering work as they should and the car is tight. All of the body panel spacing is great and the car sits on Keystone Classic Rims with tires that show no wear. Some of the chrome was re-chromed to include the bumpers and there is only minor pitting on some of the original untouched chrome and it appears it is primarily on the front turn signal bezels. He has hunted over the years for original undamaged chrome for it and used that when he could. The car will also include original 58 black steel rims and Impala hubcaps, 3 speed tranny, 3 speed column and steering wheel, power steering pump and assembly and other misc pieces as we sort through them. He does have a rebuilt 58 Powerglide tranny that is on a cart that was never installed but did it because it was age correct for the car. It will also include 1958 shop manual, owners guide, dealership brochure and factory wiring diagram book. The gas tank under the car is more than likely no good and a new one sits in the trunk that he may get on the car for the new owner. The car has an electronic fuel pump and the car runs out of an auxiliary fuel tank to keep things from getting clean when sitting for an extended period of time. Understand that this is an older restoration. I found only a few chips in the paint; primarily around the door jambs. This car may need some minor carb tuning, minor electrical and exhaust work to get it on the road but once done could be a daily driver or for show. Again, this car has never seen rain or snow and has always been inside a climate controlled shop on their property and covered up. You can tell by the pictures of the trunk and undercarriage that, aside from some cobwebs, that this car has not seen the open road. I will also be listing the numerous extra parts (not a part of or included in this auction!!!!) he has left over from this restoration in another auction and selling some by other means. Other additional parts are misc. chrome, light assembly's, interior dash and door pieces, dash and speedometer assemblies, (2) windshields and other misc. parts. Again, he has accumulated many other parts over the years that goes to show that he tried to find and put only the best original parts on this car. My parents are moving from the Midwest to Arizona and have decided to sell the car rather than take it with and that is the only reason for the sale. Actual mileage is exempt and unknown. But only a few actual miles on it in the past 25 years or so!! This car is for sale locally and we reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. This car can be inspected locally by appointment only. This is sold in as-is condition and purchased by verified bank check or cash in hand before car will be released. Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding. If you have zero or negative feedback, contact me prior to bidding or your bid will be cancelled. Happy bidding and good luck!!!On Sep-26-12 at 06:37:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok. We decided to lower the reserve price and let the car go to the highest bidder. I was out sorting through parts and looking over the car again yesterday. To clarify on one point, the glass is all intact and the windows go up and down. The driver's window is a little sticky and need a little help to go up which I imagine is from sitting so long without regular use. On Sep-26-12 at 07:15:17 PDT, seller added the following information: In addition to the previous revision, in the sentence for it running out of an auxiliary fuel tank is for the purposes of keeping the lines and new tank clean from sitting for extended periods of time. To clarify, the winning bidder of the car has the option to take a power glide tranny, 2 3sp trannys, power steering assembly, steering column, 348 4bbl intake and carb, crank, 58 radiator, 1958 shop manuals, owners manual and brochure, and misc chrome and stainless parts that have been acquired over the years. If the winning bidder does not want the additional parts, I will sell them by other means. Again, please ask any and all questions prior to bidding and if you need clarification on any statements in this listing. I did my best to describe this car and it's condition as accurately as possible. Vehicle is sold as-is with no warranty expressed implied. Thank you and good luck!!!
